try turning on the ML2 extra logging, and make sure your logs are verbose... and see if that gives anything. But I don't quite know what it could be.... How many items beginning with 'A' do you have??

There are only 8 genres beginning with A. I will try the logging, but not today. I am a bit busy.

Just managed to try to turn logging on. I get the "10/11/2006 21:01:39.382 VERBOSE [1] MusicLibrary2: Instanely Stupid amount of logging activated!!!" message but then little else but the standard task added messages. I do get lot's of logging from the weather plug-in at VERBOSE level, so I know that it's switched on. I am supposed to look in gbpvr-exe.log??

You turned the logging on, exited out of config app then started gbpvr??
So yes it should be the gbpvr.exe.log file (if you have any MVP's you might need to deactivate them for the test).

Yes, and yes, I have an MVP.

ok, so to get the logs I need you'll need to shut down the mvp (from the config app) then start up gbpvr, start ml2, then post those logs for me...
I managed to sneak a few minutes and did just that. The gbpvr log "overflows" several times because the loading of the tracks list into memory results in one line per tracks (and there are lots). I have checked back through the -1 -2 and -3 logs and the only entries are the "MusicLibrary2: found media:" messages. I can't tell if all the tracks are there because gbpvr keeps just 3 old logs. One thing is for sure - there are plenty of genres not beginning with A that appear in the ones for which there are messages.
In this test I queued and stopped an album as you can see. I also switched screens several times (which I couldn't see), changing to the offending A only genres. I tried a separate test in which the start-up default was to present genre/artist/album. This too shows only A genres. It is consistent and persistent. Sorry, but I couldn't see any evidence of misbehaviour. (misbehaviour in the logs that is)

Not quite sure where I'm going to go with this....I'll have to try and construct a really large db, and see if I can make mine do the same...
I wonder if it's worth getting your Db (if you don't mind) - I have my email listed in my profile. I dont run many genres at all myself, preferred to cut them down to about 10. Then at least I could fudge the however many mp3 files you have to make it all display...
