I would like to be able to rename my recording files on an ad-hoc basis. Is there an easy way to do this and still have them accessible via the Recordings tab in my MVP?

For instance, my EPG listings were wrong for the season-opener of a series, so I entered a Manual Recording for that time. Now, this recording is an orphan: not listed with the other episodes in the MVP, and the filename itself is non-descript.

I have the Video Archive plugin which lets me move files around and still have them playable via the MVP.

Is there an equivalent plug-in which lets me rename the files themselves? (without hand-editing the database each time)

Thanks!

There is no built in functionality for doing this.

I also use the video Archive plugin and i have on occasion gone into the video archive.mdb and manually edited it, when things have had a small snafu. It hasn't happened to me too often, so going in manually once in a while hasn't been a big deal.

i am sure this is not what you want, but...there is a utility called addepisode, which will rename the filename itself, based on what is in the database. however, in your situation, you need to change the entries in the database, as well as change the filename. there is no built in function or plugin that i know of that will do this for you. i suggest editing the database manually, but remember if you change the filename in the database, you need to also change the real filename, or it will be purged from the database by the recording service.
