Currently I am recording with a PVR150 on a Via C3 Samual II processor.
The CPU runs at a whopping 800Mhz (equivalent of a 400MHz Celeron)
During recording the CPU load is 5% or less due to the WH MPEG encoder on the PVR150 and the very efficient IO handling of the VIA C3 architecture
I am considering adding a second tuner.
Because the machine has no free PCI slot but plenty of free USB2.0 ports it could be an option to use a USB tuner.
Could anyone give me some info on:
1: What CPU load to expect when using a USB tuner? Do the/some USB tuners have a HW MPEG encoder?
2: What picture quality to expect from a USB tuner. I am very happy with the performance of the PVR150.Looks nice on the big LCD TV.
