Hi!
Since my HTPC isn't connected to the Internet I have to rely on the over-the-air EPG that is provided in the DVB stream. Just like other users I have problems with gaps in the EPG, too. Furthermore I don't really like the idea of pressing the "Update EPG" button to populate my EPG. Neither do I like an scheduled update.
Wouldn't it be much easier for the user, if the EPG automatically updates itself every time he's watching TV, just like ordinary set-top boxes do? This means, every time I tune in a certain frequency, the EPG data can be read out in the background without me noticing it. So after I tuned in every channel and watched it for a few minutes (maybe during zapping) the guide should be complete. The drawback of course is, that you don't have EPG data for channels you haven't watched yet. To solve this problem this feature could be additional to the manual or scheduled EPG update.
I have another problem with EPG, too: In addition to the start and end times and the title of a show many stations provide a more detailed description of their shows. Is there any way of accessing this information? I think I just haven't found it yet (I'm new to GBPVR), or maybe it's a missing feature. Would be nice to have it
And yet another problem: All the German umlauts (like ä, ö, ü, Ã) are missing in the EPG. Some shows have kind of funny titles this way :p
Anyway, I really like GBPVR and that you provide it free of charge. I'd like to thank you for all the effort you put in this nice piece of work!
