Hi!

Since my HTPC isn't connected to the Internet I have to rely on the over-the-air EPG that is provided in the DVB stream. Just like other users I have problems with gaps in the EPG, too. Furthermore I don't really like the idea of pressing the "Update EPG" button to populate my EPG. Neither do I like an scheduled update.

Wouldn't it be much easier for the user, if the EPG automatically updates itself every time he's watching TV, just like ordinary set-top boxes do? This means, every time I tune in a certain frequency, the EPG data can be read out in the background without me noticing it. So after I tuned in every channel and watched it for a few minutes (maybe during zapping) the guide should be complete. The drawback of course is, that you don't have EPG data for channels you haven't watched yet. To solve this problem this feature could be additional to the manual or scheduled EPG update.

I have another problem with EPG, too: In addition to the start and end times and the title of a show many stations provide a more detailed description of their shows. Is there any way of accessing this information? I think I just haven't found it yet (I'm new to GBPVR), or maybe it's a missing feature. Would be nice to have it Rolleyes

And yet another problem: All the German umlauts (like ä, ö, ü, ß) are missing in the EPG. Some shows have kind of funny titles this way :p

Anyway, I really like GBPVR and that you provide it free of charge. I'd like to thank you for all the effort you put in this nice piece of work!

Hi,
just thought I'd mention that I'm having this problem in the DVB-T (Nova-T 9002) EPG, too -- the German characters are missing.

I also have an analogue card (PVR250) and grab the xml data from the internet. In this latter case, the German characters are fine.

Any ideas?

Hi,

Well I installed the newest version this morning :-). Everything is working fine. The missing German characters are now back in the EPG.

However, I only get EPG information for 3 of my 21 DVB channels. With the previous version, I had the odd gap, but got data for all stations.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Hi Guys,

Partial good news (I just didn't notice it) -- the German special characters are now in the EPG! Well done Sub!

However I noticed the problem you described with the latest release (98.13) only grabbing EPG data for 3 channels -- I have exactly the same problem since the upgrade.

I think that if we don't find a solution to get all channels soon, I'll have to downgrade to the previous release. Sub -- do you need logfiles or other data?

I think I discovered what the problem is....

it looks like gbpvr takes the first known transponder of the channel-list an searches it for epg-data. Instead of taking the next one(s) it tunes to the same again, and again and again. So it never gains more epg than found in first transponder. Take a look at yourself at config-native.log!

PS: German umlauts working now - i can confirm!

Zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

Here are the logs ...

There's also one interesting error within config-exe.log. Overseen it before.

Additional info: I didn't do a fresh install, just upgraded from v 0.98.08.

Can you set the logging level back to the default 'debug' level, then reproduce the problem and repost the logs?

Also, add a <SaveDvbEpgXML>true</SaveDvbEpgXML> setting to config.xml, and zip and attach any files named like dvbepg-x.xml in your c:\ directory.
