MVP reload to Hauppauge driver

Items I would like :

1. As the Hauppague MVP client can play AVIs I would like a GB-PVR plug in that can turn on the Hauppague driver so a re-boot brings up that server - to watch AVIs - then a way to turn it back off (tricky?) back to GB-PVR. Perhapse a toggle mode so the MVP alternatly boots to GB-PVR or Hauppauge.

Reaon for this - I have to walk upstairs (4 stories) to my server PC to switch servers for the MVP when I want to watch AVIs.

2. Some PC based code to allow BBC streamed media (radio & video eg http://news.bbc.co.uk ) to be encoded to MPEG for the MVP.

3. GB-PVR PC client so another PC on the LAN can function like a MVP.

4. Disk space prioritisation feature so that if we run out of HD when recording my partners costume dramas some of my SiFi films or series are toasted in the interests of domestic harmony - some record of this sacrifice should be e.mailed to partner.

For item 1, the loading of GB-PVR and the Hauppauge software is determined by the services running. I don't have the hauppauge software installed anymore to try this, but it should be possible to write a simple batch file/script etc that starts the 2 hauppauge services, and stops the GBPVR recording service, which I think is all you need to do manually.

net start hauppauge service1
net start hauppauge service1
net stop GB-PVR Recording Service

This can then be added to GBPVR via a custom task.

From memory the MVP GUI will reload itself.

Not sure on the reverse process to get GBPVR back but shouldn't be too hard to modify that code to call another list of commands that does the opposite.

Worth a go and might save your legs.

I've been away from GBPVR for a while due to my primary use of my MVP being to watch avi files hence the need for the Hauppauge software. I'm amazed how much development has gone on especially with the amount of plugins now available ... i'd much prefer to be using GBPVR.
So I'd also be interested in wish 1) although just to point out that the GBPVR media mvp service is not a real service by default (please feel free to correct if things have changed). Therefore you will need to install that as a service first before writing the batch script. I'm sure the instructions for installing it as a service are on this forum somewhere.
One more complicated way of getting GBPVR to play avi's which I've mentioned before would be to get the Hauppauge service to bind to a loopback address of 127.0.0.2 or different ports and have a GBPVR plugin that passes the right commands to the Hauppauge service and then redirects the streams back via GBPVR. I have no idea if thats possible at all but it would mean not having to create any transcoder software. Mind you just toggling between each MVP service is far more simpler to setup I expect!!
As for 2) I guess thats more server side transcoding which is unlikely to be an easy task. Personally I'd prefer the BBC not to use realplayer or at least offer more choice\open formats when it comes to streaming. Some channels do have Windows media support and not that mp3 is an open format.

GBPVR Media MVP support is now integrated directly into the recording service, so it does now run as a service. No need to roll-your own service these days.
