Jules: A Royale with cheese. What do they call a Big Mac? Vincent: Well, a Big Mac's a Big Mac, but they call it le Big-Mac. Jules: Le Big-Mac. Ha ha ha ha. What do they call a Whopper? Vincent: I dunno, I didn't go into Burger King.

What do you do 'officially' for a living?I currently work from home doing various software development contracts, which is great since I get watch my kids grow up. I've been in the IT industry since about 1994. For the last few years prior to working for myself from home, I was a solutions architect in the telecoms space, trying to stay hands-on whenever I could. This had pretty interesting varied work, ranging from the development of a Coca Cola vending machine where product can be purchased via SMS, through to high availability prepaid mobile topup platforms (Orange in the Netherlands), and a lot of work for Vodafone and Ericsson. I blame the guys from Coca-Cola Amatil (NZ) for my Coke addiction - the fools supplied a vending machine full of genuine product for the testing of that system. Each time one popped out, I had to drink it...it'd be rude not to. I started with embedded systems, then spent several years with Microsoft technologies, before moving to Java for a few years, before moving back to the Microsoft side of the fence.

Each time I text them to pay for parking - it tells me the service is unavailable so I have to run and find a shop who actually will give change! I'm very glad you decided to develop a PVR program, I tried mediaportal, and it was OK - but GB is just so easy to use. Thanks for your efforts.

I am further amazed that you even have time to think about projects other than GBPVR considering the amount of time and effort just in supporting users on this board.
I know my wife would LOVE to get her hands on one of those vending machines, she is a Coke-aholic. Thanks for the brief history, always interesting to read tidbits like this. Brian
