Hello y'all. I was searching the forums for a way to play CDG-Karaoke files and only saw a couple requests. I figured out a way to do it and decided to post it.

1. Download the Karaoke plug-in for WMP. http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles...p_id=89149

2. Install the Reven Interactive "Release candidate" for MY Videos (for the post v0.97.x users)
http://www.reven.co.nz/index.php?option=...&Itemid=43

3. Point "My Videos" to your Karaoke folder.

4. In the My Videos config, add CDG as a file type. (The WMP plug-in only seems to work when the CDG file is the one executed.)

5. Rock out.

Because MY Videos is not looking for MP3s, it will thankfully only see the CDG files (less cluttered, because the MP3 and CDG have to be in the same folder). ...also, early on, I right-clicked a cdg file and told it to always open with Window Media Player, ...dunno if it mattered, though.

Thanks GBPVR-ers. It (and you) are the AWESOMERest-est.

Thanks for the post... Karaoke is cool. Who'd've thunk it on a PVR...?

I moved this thread from the support forum, since it wasn't a support request.

Excellent first post in any case.

When my father bought his flat panel we had to pull his old kareoke machine to make room for the HDTV Sat. box.
He muzed that he wanted to buy a new one.
This or a different PC solution may be a better alternative.
I can't imagine it takes much power to do kareoke.

Thanks for the tip.

Nitrogen - nah, no power at all. The only reason I used the seemingly beefy "My Videos" is because you can choose what file types to execute.

Having it in GBPVR is perfect. No more fumbling through folders from the windows desktop (or changing disks), I get to control it with the remote (my wireless mouse is weak), and it adds to the "oh yeah, look what else this thing does, sucker!!".
