just wondering...is there any way to lock the aspect ratio?
its really annoying when i try to scale down GBPVR when i'm in windowed mode it just stretches out the image, instead of keeping it at a fixed aspect ratio.

it seems like i've tried every setting in config that has to do with aspect ratios and whatnot, but i cant get anywhere with this.

thanks for the help

No, GB-PVR's aspect ratio handling is built for fullscreen use, which is its primary intended use.

That said, some video decoders allow you to configure them to use content or source aspect ratio control, which will give the behaviour you describe. You can also use some post processing filters like ffdshow for doing this.

I dont use it myself so cant tell you the exact details, but I know some other users have used it for this purpose, so the settings are in there somewhere...

I know his problem was fixed, but what I think he was asking was can the GB-PVR window be fixed to a ratio, such as 720x480, or even better, the resolution (AR) of the main menu skin, so that when you resize the window it makes it impossible to stretch the picture. this would make it easy to do screenshots.

any updates on a solution? i tried setting gbpvr to wmv7 but that didn't work on fixed aspect ratio. using 1924x768 and would like a ratio of that.

ok what exactly are you asking about? I am assuming that you have a 2.35:1 projector, which stays at that AR for movies. are you saying that when you watch TV the picture gets stretched? or are you talking about the menu? which must look quite interesting stretched to almost double width.

I have solutions for both!Smile
first, if the picture is stretched while watching TV, you will need to fix the aspect ratio settings in config.xml. I would suggest setting the tv option to 16:9 (although I am not sure what this changes other than the aspect ratio options) and then edit the aspect ratios in the config file. there is a guide to do this on the wiki.

if you are talking about the menu, and other screens. this is a little harder. you get to make your own skin, which is created specifically for that aspect ratio, the default plugins and a quite a few other ones support different resolutions. there are plenty of people who can help you with skinning around here too.

hope this helps

there is no way to constrain the window aspect without sub making code changes and as he said, this program is designed to be used fullscreen, you could ask him about adding that feature, but who knows if he will
