XviD Conversion

I haven't tried this feature yet but I have noticed GB-PVR will do it.
In GB-PVR config gui there is a processing tab. I see a section that says
auto convert and I can choose from a number of different formats such as
Divx, XviD, Ipod, ect. Will these convert on the fly while the recording is
taking place or does the times above mean GB-PVR will convert the
Mpeg 2 file between those times.

Also, would you say the file size would be smaller then an Mpeg 2
I always record in Medium.

It transcodes after the fact. Either immediately after recording, or at a scheduled nightly time.
