What does your avatar mean and why did you choose it?

I love Guiness.
but hated it out of the Bottle / Can.
Then they came up with a way to have the cascade at home.
The way via a little device that released nitrogen into the beer when you opened the can / bottle.
The device was called...

A nitrogen_widget.

And henceforth I used that as my handle in most of anything involved with being online be it gaming or forums.

I have no avatar because i'm too lazy to set it up.

I actually worked on the manufacturing process design for that, back in the late eighties... During design and development, it had no official name so it was just called "a widget" and the name stuck.

Real names Rick, and ricklous is something a girlfriend came up with. God knows why, they dont work on logic do they Never seems to be taken when i register at places so it sort of sticks in the virtual world....my other one is ZingleFiffyDingDong which is so random that its never taken, it depends how tired i am as to which one i plump for when signing up

As a student at the University of Portsmouth, Snakebite (commonly called SnakeyB) is a Student Union drink which is made up 1/2 pint larger, 1/2 pint of cider, topped with blackcurrent cordial. Tastes ok and is rather potent if you know what I'm saying :p

Sounds good. Sounds like I will need to plan a vacation to Portsmouth to try that! We have a alcohol store on this side of the pond that carries a lot (and I do mean A LOT) of imported beers. Stuff most americans have never heard of. Every friday they have beer tastings for a dollar. Great way to try new beers without buying a 6 pack and then finding out you don't like it

I had some REALLY potent stuff for Thanksgiving over here. The Christmas beers are out and about, had one called Delirious Noel. Damn thing was 10%!

All this talk of Guinness is making me thirsty...
At the risk of being dull and nerdy...

a) The 'widget' is a little plastic capsule (it was shaped like a plug when I worked on it, a few years after it changed to a sphere), that contains nitrogen and is inserted into the can as it is filled. It has an itty-bitty 0.010" hole in it and surface tension keeps the gas in. After the can is sealed, post-fermentation maintains and slightly increases the pressure. When you open the can, it releases a little stream of 0.010" bubbles that give it the creamy head (that's why it says to drink straight from the can). The bottled draught took longer because of marketing droids and, more importantly, because of the increased testing required to stop the little torpedo coming out and choking you.

b) Whenever I have had Black Velvet it has always been Guinness+Cider, but a 'true' Black Velvet is Guinness+Champagne. It originated in 18?? after the death of Prince Albert; while Victoria was still in mourning, it was a way for the toffs to keep boozing without looking disrespectful.

c) Apparently, the human body can obtain all the minerals, vitamins, proteins, and carbohydrates required to remain healthy by consuming each day:

- 1 glass of orange juice.
- 1 gallon of milk.
- 46 pints of Guinness.

Well, I don’t know if the origin of WerewolfTA is a good story, but here it is: I was always fascinated by wolves. Then, I discovered werewolves, which were pretty cool. On a separate track, a friend introduced me to role-playing games. After I moved, a work acquaintance introduced me to a role-playing game called Werewolf: The Apocalypse. You may have heard of another role-playing game from the same company, Vampire: The Masquerade, which received some negative press several years ago. They totally reinvented werewolves and, to a lesser extent, vampires. Their werewolf mythology is very cool. Anyway, after another move, I made a new friend, and we played Werewolf a lot, had some really great sessions. Sadly, I haven’t done any role-playing games since I moved to FL. Oh, well. Anyway, if I recall, I abbreviated Werewolf: The Apocalypse to werewolfta for a password when I started at my last job. It eventually grew into a kind of anonymous identity. Werewolf was always taken, but WerewolfTA has always been available and thus mine.

The picture I use as my avatar, whenever possible, is of the Starwolf Tribe from the computer game Starsiege Tribes, one of the coolest online games ever, in its day. Sadly, it has largely deteriorated into a bunch of cheats, team killers, and juvenile jackasses.
