Which of the tuners would you choose?

If you have experience with it for OTA digital broadcast television, please mention so. Thanks.

If I was in the US and buying a new capture device today, I'd be buying a Hauppauge HVR1600.

Sorry, I didn't get the poll up and running before you posted. I'm looking at adding a PCIe card so I can keep my two PVR150s.

Given this extra info, I'd probably go with the 1800, but I'm definitely biased towards Hauppauge products. This does have benefit of getting much better device support though.

I only have experience with the PCI version of the Fusion5 so my opinion is a bit out of date. For me, the F5 was hit or miss. When the F5 worked, it was outstanding. The quality of my recordings was excellent as was live playback. But when I had issues, boy did I have issues... I'm not one to shy away from troubleshooting PC issues but I am the exception to the rule. I'd suggest going with the Hauppauge card as sub suggested.

The HDHomeRun devices do sound pretty cool, but the lack of analog tuner could be a deal breaker for a lot of users.

Is there any HD card that has hardware mpeg4 encoding?

I love my ConvertX because I can run stuff I'm not too keen on straight to divx (albeit only 1 pass) without messing with processing it. I save space, time and power. I still do mpeg2 for the stuff I want to keep, so I can get better compression and quality with software encoding, but I like my current system and don't really want to change it up.

I just bought a new PC that came with the HVR-1800 pci-e card. I have it working fine on the analogue side in GBpvr. I tried to set it up to work with ASTC and ran into a few snags and then got busy at work and haven't had a chance to look at it again. It worked ok in VistaMCE which came on this pc. However, not that well since it would only tune to the primary channel and none of the sub channels.

Hopefully I will have a little free time soon to mess with this setup.
