Hi,

I try UbuStream with the Community skin.
When I try to play a station I get this error:"Object reference not set to an instanc of an object".
If I change to the Blue skin it works exelent.

Will be very happy if sameone could help.

Issues with a skin should be reported separately from a plugin support thread, since plugin authors do not need to concern themselves with skin support.

That being said, I updated the skin for this plugin today. Does this solve your problems?

Thank you, my friend. I really should try testing with a skin other than Blue from time to time. :o

The change was related to another set of "more up/down" special elements than the previous version if I remember correctly. Usually, if you have to make a skin change (addition) in blue, it will need to be followed through by skinners to make their skins compatible.

I did indeed make some skin changes, including adding "big" up/down arrows for the scrolling button menu. Is there some procedure I should be following to communicate skin changes to skinners? Also, how can I tell if any changes I make are consistent with the skinning "master plan"?

There is no real proceedure or master plan (yet Wink ). That being said, in a "change log" type of statement, a comment that the skin file has been updated lets a skinner/user know there is something to look for.

"Blue skin file has been updated. Changes will need to be made to other skins to be compatible."

No worries, I read just about every post. Not all skinners do. It was meant to let you, or anyone else, be aware that skins are separate entities from plugins, which are only required to support the blue skin.

Right now, my plugin (and, I assume, most plugins) has code to detect if the skin file exists and, if it doesn't, defaults to using the Blue skin version. It occurs to me that, if the skin file contained a version number, the plugin could also check to see if the current skin file is the correct version and, if not, default to the Blue version. This would, at least, ensure that the plugin still functions OK while skinners are catching up with support for the new version.

On the other hand, this would probably require a feat of co-ordination analogous to herding cats. Smile

Ubu, there is a method for version checking and such. I am not a coder, but sub and Reven talked about this, and it is now implemented in gbpvr.
