I'm out of luck. We can't watch currently recording DVR-MS file over network. I tried playing the DVR-MS file using WMP and I get

"The file is already in use" error in WMP. I'm back to square one. What a mess I'm in. This all started because my new Dell doesn't like F5L cards. I can't shutdown normally with the cards installed.

Okay, here's what I settled with. You can see my specs for the new setup. The server/client set up is pretty close to ideal.

I have two issues that I think will be hard to fix soon.

1. Live TV doesn't work for HDTV because of DVR-MS file access issue.
2. There is about 1-2 second lag in TV guide. Is this due to a large mdb file?

Well, I can live with it.

I've been recommending that if people are using a client PC, then they should convert the server to using SQLite database - it performs much better across a network.

I did some research but I couldn't find how to use SQLite. Does anyone know? Thanks in advance.

Start the changedatabase.exe in the gbpvr-dir and pick the right options for you.

It turns I need live TV for NFL games.

I tried SageTV with server/client setup. SageTV allows live HDTV on the client machine and it's pretty smooth. But I don't want to spend money so I'm back to the old faithful GBPVR.

I moved my work PC to my family room and using it as HTPC. No server/client setup.

I know it's a long shot. But will GBPVR allow live HDTV on the client in the future?
