Best External Tuner?

Right now i currently have the Hauppauge WinTV PVR USB2, but the software that came with it is horrible, and the GB-PVR is exactly what i want to run my tuner. Its for a laptop so it has to be external (preferably usb) whats the best tuner quality and compatibility with GB-PVR?

what step did u do to install it properly? Cuase im having horrible time. WHat kind of computer? Im on a Dell M60.... bestow your knowledge on me

My computer has no brand. Its just made from parts. What problem are your having?

I just selected Hauppauge PVR USB2 as device type.

My problem is whenever i try to watch live tv or record anything i get the error:Failure playing back file. What im trying to figure out the order that you installed things. What is necessary to get it to work?

RIght now i just have drivers and GB what do you have installed?

I'd installed the whole Hauppauge WinTV software package before installing GB-PVR. It needs the MPEG2 decoder which is installed with the original software.

The strange thing is that i can run everything fine with the Hauppuage software that is installed but the GB doesnt work.... hmmm tricky

did you change any settings in GBR?

no, just picked the right device type

alright well i got everything to work... but heres the problem.

After i restart i have to open up WinTV software or else GBR wont recognize it..... weird...
