Hi Guys

July2006 Freecom Stick

I was having trouble getting my second (July2006) Freecom DVB-T stick to work properly.

The stick was recognised by windows (once I'd removed all traces of freecom westlake.dll & wdm drivers from win32 & inf), with latest 00008584 bda drivers etc installed okay installing BDA_Loader_225 etc with no errors in windows. When configured as Freecom type 3 could scan for channels but couldn't see any even though signal strength & quality were quite acceptable.

I tried the stick in another PC and it worked fine under the Freecom wdm SW interface using same antenna so it appeared to work okay leaving me with a bda drivers or config issue!

I was at the point of buying a different DVB-T USB stick as I thought I'd never get both (March2006 type 2 & July 2006) Freecom sticks to work together when I noticed that one of the other devices detected on my machine was the V-Gear MobiDTV.

I tried the V-Gear MobiDTV setting and lo and behold I did a full channel scan recognising all channels in my area.

Added Freecom my type section in bda.ini with following settings and voila!, notice the only difference between freecom type3 & MobiDTV is: PIN_TUNER_OUT=BDA MPEG2 Transport

[V-Gear MobiDTV]
TUNING_TYPE=DVB-T
FILTER_TUNER=USB Digital-TV Receiver
FILTER_CAPTURE=USB Digital-TV Device Capture
PIN_TUNER_IN=Input0
PIN_TUNER_OUT=BDA MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_IN=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_OUT=MPEG2 Transport

Hope this helps someone with July 2006 Freecom Stick, good luck

I've also got a July 2006 Freecom stick, and I'm having the same problem. I can get it to tune in config with either the Freecom Type 3 settings or the V-Gear ones, and I see the TV preview no problem.

However, in GBPVR I get a blank screen in Live TV, and no EPG info.

Any idea what's causing this. Could you provide some details of what you did to remove the default Freecom drivers before re-installing the BDA ones?

Thanks

If it works in the preview window in the config app, then it should also work in GB-PVR. Zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

What video decoders do you have listed on the playback tab of the config app? Have you tried each of the options that are listed?

I have several decoders, but none seems to make any difference:
System Default
Intervideo NonCSS
Intervideo Video
Cyberlink Video/SP
MainConcept (Hauppage)
Nero

I also tried the two VMR9 options (with default decoder), but got a "not supported" message. I then tried the Overlay manager setting and got a warning on lice TV that it couldn't find the signal (although the signal strength bar is fully green).

I checked in the tuning dialog, and this definitely finds and displays the stations without any problem.

Any ideas?

One more thing, if I plug the antenna into my PCI card and just change the capture source it all works fine with the system defaul decoders. Does this help?

To be honest, I'm not really sure. Does switching from VMR7 to something else help?
