Recording and live tv don't work, Tuning Assistant does?

I have an STB that uses channel 3. I have my recording source as fixed channel 3, external tuner. Cable.

When i try to access live tv it flickers, then it goes back to the watch selection. However, if i run the tuning assitant, it trys Chanel 1 (no good), Channel 2 (no good), channel 3 (shows whatever the current channel is on the stb). I press ok, and it keeps going without any of the channels working.

When i set it up to record something, It records it and i can watch the video in VLC player, however the quaility seems awful.

What do you think can be causing this?

:EDIT: I got video playback and recording working by installing codecs. Now, my channels don't change in gbpvr. However, it works when the Blaster CFG chagnes it from hauppage. How do I get the blaster working in GBPVR?

This sounds correct since you're receiving channels via channel 3 from an STB.

Quality is pretty subjective, so its hard to tell if you're having a real problem, or just someone who doesnt like the results of your PVR150's hardware MPEG2 encoding.

If you think you're having a real problem, post some screenshots so we can look at what the problem looks like.

If its just a dislike of the encoding done by the device, you could try doing some recordings in the high quality mode, or adjust the bitrates to see if it works better for your.

You have to set your capture source to use the '.exe channel changer' and point it at c:\program files\devnz\gbpvr\haupblast.exe.

That fixed my tv channel changing. Now it seems that the core functionality is working.

Now, to get my webserver working.
