0.995 You tube issue

Hi sub,

First or all the idea of having a youtube screen is really cool!
Unfortunately I have noticed a few issues with it actually crashing GBPVR.

This seems to be when playing a video file that it has downloaded, error seems to be around system.net.web exception thats from memory so maybe incorrect.

Also it seems to download very slow I have the Telstra 10Mb download cable connection and it was taking for ever to download 2.5MB, this could of course be my PC or the youtube site itself so nothing concrete at the meoment - just an observation.

The download rate seems to be limited by youtube.

I dont really have any ideas why its crashing GB-PVR for you. If its occuring when playback is starting, it might be worth trying a different decoder (particularly if you're using an Intervideo one).

Hi Sub,

The issue with you tube speed seems to be their site as you suggested now going through my local proxy server helps with the speed of sebsequent requests.

The crash seems to be around selecting the same video clip to play again and again.

I sometimes see the download popup come up with "Downloaded 0KB/0KB"
just to clarify at this time the PC was going direct to the site and NOT through my proxy.

I have been testing with the Rocky clip from the "Top Rated" category in case its just an issue with that clip. I will continue to try things to see what if anything seems to affect the issue.

First off, the Youtube feature is nice. I hope it makes the cut moving forward. It has a high kid acceptance factor at our house.

I have had a random crash, but in general it is pretty solid.
I do have a problem that the videos skip occasionally. No more than once during the playback and then they are solid.
It would be great to be able to save the video in the recordings directory in a format that GBpvr will directly play. So far the only way I can play a previously downloaded file is to use VLC on the file that is downloaded into the recordings dir.
Anyway, great work on the new release.

After playing the file there should be 2 files a *.flv and a *.MPG in the rec dir. * depends on your videodecoder choice. At my client it's vmr7.mpg/vmr7.flv, at server it's vmr9.mpg/vmr9.flv. You could rename the mpg to whatever you want. That would keep it from being overwritten next time you download a youtube movie. I think sub is probably working on a builtin thing for this.

You wouldnt normally be able to play a .FLV file from GB-PVR (or Windows Media Player or other directshow based player), unless you'd installed a FLV splitter and video decoder. This is why GB-PVR converts it to a MPG file before attempting to play it.

I play the mpg, or as you did the flv in vlc. You could copy the mpg to your video-dir so that it shows up in the video-archive.
