For the last couple of days all of my recordings have not work. The audio in them stutters and is barely understandable.

This doesn't happen watching live TV. But, it will happen if I try and record live TV while I'm watching it.

It may have started after I upgraded to 99.5.

I see that there are many options for audio renderers and decoders in config.exe. Should I try different ones? I have tried a few and it doesn't help. Since it appears to be a recording issue do I look at the renderers?

When I open the .mpg file in Gspot, I get nothing under the "Audio", section. Codec and Stat are blank.

Note: the video seems just fine.

I'm using a Hauppauge PVR USB2.

I tried every Audio Renderer, one at a time, with no lock.

Come to think of it, I had the same problem on another machine. I thought the machine was too slow or didn't have a USB 2.0 port.

So I now think there is a more fundamental problem with my computer. I can't remember all the changes I made 3 days ago. I was changing a lot of stuff to get Zprocess to work, install some new software.

Is there a log that might detail what's happening during the record?

I'd dont know. With this type of device its all the encoding is done in hardware, so its pretty unlikely it'd be in the recording itself - but if it is, then all I can suggest is trying a different version of the driver and hoping you get lucky.

If its a playback thing, then you'll have to try different audio decoder. Maybe try updating the sound card (or on-board) drivers.

There is no other types of GB-PVR settings that would help this type of thing.

Just for kicks, I opened wintv2000 and recorded 30 seconds. It worked. Can you think of anything unique to GB PVR or different that might account for this?

Thanks Miles

I also found graphedit, does the following picture "make sense"? Am I using the correct drivers/decoders, etc?

Afaik graph-files can only be opened on your own system. So to show them you should make a screencopy of it. Well......I've never used graphedit but that is how I see it done here all the time.

Alright I think I fixed it:
I had lowered the audio quality to 128 from 192 kbs.
(Capture sources -> edit -> Recording source settings -> Medium quality edit)

When I tried using the "High Quality" recording profile it worked. So I changed the medium one. And now all seems to be well.

Anyone want to speculate why?
