Hello chaps,

I have connected my mvp to my system in order to control gbpvr on my pc downstairs but am having a few problems with the configuration.

Basically i can hear the live tv broadcast but only get a blank screen. When I try to watch a recorded show it goes black, disables the menu options, then reverst back to the previous screen.

My setup is:

wired mvp into a wireless g router
htpc with wirteless card - fixed ip
gbpvr version 99.5
disabled hauppage services
start gbpvr mvp server

I can see everything else completeley fine i.e menus, tv guide etc.

Can anyone help?

Many thanks,

In fact after a retest the only video that won't display is the .mpg from gbpvr recording or live tv

all other formats work

To the MVP, live TV is no different than a recorded file. The difference being live TV is coming directly from your tuner card with a slight delay whereas the recording is coming from your hard drive with minimal delay.

Have you tried viewing live TV on the MVP with the Hauppauge provided utilities? If they don't work then you have a non GBPVR issue.

so only .mpg won't work....... is this a recorded show ? Does it play on the GBPVR pc ? Maybe the tv-tuner is just off frequency ?

It happens with both live tv and recorded shows. Seems like it is something to do witht he transcode process to mvp.

If I understand how GBPVR works, there is no transcode required with an mpg file played on the MVP. GBPVR just streams it from PC to MVP as the MVP asks for it.

shands99, we need more info from you to try and help you.

What type audio does the MPG file have? The MVP wont cope with MPG files that have AC3 or PCM audio. They need to have the standard MPEG1 Layer 2 audio.

I do have the AC3 codec installed..

How do I tell the cyberlink mux to use mpeg layer 1 audio and not ac3?

The cyberlink mux does not have any ability to convert audio standards. It simple adds some timing information and repackages digital transmissions being sent by the broadcaster. ie, if the broadcaster is transmitting AC3, then you'll end up with a file containing AC3 audio.
