I installed Real Player 10, ensured that the configuration is set up to point to the realplay.exe file, but when trying to play a BBC dynamic sources that were sync'd with the default real player, the error "Media player applciation missing" appears, and states that it can't run RealPlayer (file realplay.exe) when trying to play the stream.

I don't seem to have any problems with running windows media player and tlc streams, the only two other players I have installed. (although the CNN dynamic sources have problems with the color (8 bit color only?) - but should be the topic of another thread)

Any ideas?

(great plugin Ubu!)

Check the UbuStream media player config entry for Real Payer again. The error message you describe will only occur if, for whatever reason, UbuStream cannot find realplay.exe in the location you have specified there. Other possibilities might be something like a permissions issue (the userid running GB-PVR doesn't have access to the directory where RealPlayer is installed, for instance).

CNN video clip colors: the management is not responsible for the quality of the content. Wink

Thanks Ubu,

Got it to work eventually, but not sure how, since the file name was correctly specified. Retyping the file name and fullscreen parameters may have been what got it going.

Re CNN - the problem was Windows Media Player version 9. An upgrade to version 10 solved the problem. (Yes, I know version 11 is out)

Now all I need to get is to set up dynamic sources from abc.net.au, but that'll be a real challenge!

Maybe a "non-displayable" character somehow got embedded in the original filename (like a carriage return, for instance).

Quickly looking at that site's web pages it looks like they make you do a little bit of work to get to the actual URLs you want to scrape. Doable though.
