Does GBPVR support other cards that arent stated on the main page? I have to give m brother my laptop and im going to make a minipc u know those shuttles. Im looking for an internal card specifically the ATI AIW RADEON 9700 PRO and was wondering if GBPVR supported it.

The AIW cards are not supported. There are probably a few cards supported that are not on the front page list (PVR150 and PVR500 come to mind), but the only cards with a chance of being supported are those that have a hardware encoder.

Then i hate to ask this because GBPVR is such a nice piece of code. Is there another program that will do what GB does but for the Radeon

There is a program called mediaportal that works with standard WDM drivers.  You will not get as high of quality without a hardware encoder, but it works fairly well.  just google "mediaportal" and you will find it.  Personally I like GB-PVR better, but what are you gonna do if your card doesn't support it.  You are also going to need about 1.5-2ghz of CPU to keep up with the SW encoding.

If you haven't actually bought a card, spend your money on the PVR350, which does hardware encoding  and decoding and has a video out.  You won't need to worry about the AIW support.

if you just want to encode tv and use software decoding the best card to get would be the 150 or the 150mce, they are cheap, the 150 is better than the 150mce (it doesnt come with a remote, or a ir blaster, but does come with a fm tuner). the encoding is basically the same among all the hauppauge cards (150/250/350/500) just have different features. if you want hardware decoding the 350 is a good choice, there were issues before, but with the latest version of gbpvr (well 0.238+) these issues have basically been solved (but there may still be issues, so be warned).

WARNING: if you get a hauppauge card, DONT DONT DONT use the drivers from the cd, they will cause you nothing but trouble, download the latest from http://www.shspvr.com, they have the newest drivers. also the ones on the cd are a pain to uninstall, hence my strong warning. i had to format just to get rid of them.

my setup is 350/150 i recommend both cards, the 350 is really nice, im glad i got it, the 150 is also very nice, i cant tell a difference in the quality (if there is one).

dont go for the 250 as it is being replaced by the 150 so theres no point, its more expensive and has little to no benefits (there maybe some, but non that i am aware of, well theres more support for 250 in linux based systems than the 150, since its new).

I can't think of why you would do both the AIW and the pvr150.  You will be wasting $$ because GB-pvr can't use both. If you wan't a new Radeon, just buy a decent Radeon with TV out and then use the pvr150 for your capture.  It will capture from Coax, RCA and S-video, so you can use it for just about anything you would want to capture.  THe geforce should be fine if this is just a TV box (assuming it has tvout).

P.S. My captures are flawless with the hauppage provided drivers.  I even used the old ones from the inlcuded CD  [Image: wow.gif]

How come you don't like the drivers from the source, I don't have any problems with those drivers for 150. Those other drivers from the web site aren't they beta drivers?

those drivers arent the latest and they arent supported that well, shspvr have much better drivers and a large community of pvr users to maintain them, also the support is far better (if you ever tried the hauppauge support you will know this, they suck, good hardware but they have crap software/support).

the main reason for shspvr is the 350, their drivers are far far far better than the hauppauge ones. their other drivers are also better and newer, they package the 150/250/350 driver in one installer. if you've got hauppauge devices you should really get the drivers from there, its just a fact. you mightnt have trouble with the ones from hauppauge, but you might, many people do. and well uninstalling them is a pain, the shspvr.com drivers are a lot easier to deal with etc.
