I'd like to have some ability to prioritize my reoccuring programs without having to install the Xsuite, Xrecord, or CDKScheduler plugins. Can I use the priorityrecordings.exe with the xml file and just update the xml file manually? If so, will this new order show up in my reoccuring programs list in the Recordings plugin? I'd appreciate any help or insight to get this working. Thanks.

(Sure would be nice if this was standard in GBPVR, Sub Wink )

I think you'll find (unfortunately) that PriorityRecordings.exe throws an error as it has not been updated for .Net 2.0. If you are usign an old version (with .Net 1.1) it should be OK. A search in PriorityRecordings.exe will show you the error that gets thrown.

Thanks for the reply. I thought the service pack for CDK Scheduler (thread here) was a fix for that, but I guess I misread that.

OK then, lets say that I had an older version of GBPVR, how do I use priorityrecordings.exe as a stand-alone program without installing the other plugins?

Nope, sorry... "we wish".

Here's a post after that from KingArgyle dated 28 June 2006 and 2 July 2006. See also.

I'm sorry I don't know priorityrecordings well enough to explain this in detail. I should imagine if the exe file is in the GBPVR dir (with aPriorityRecordings.xml file) you can just run it from a batch file similar to PostUpdateEPG.bat (where it throws the error from) i.e. PriorityRecording.exe %1. However you need to have defined WHICH recordings you want priority given to. This is done (I understand) in PriorityRecordings.xml. Examples are in the WIKI. This thread is useful on setting up the xml. This one too.

As an aside, it has become a wishlist item in the base GBPVR program, but you will need to patient.

CDK Scheduler can be used without the XSuite if you are using a version of GBPVR prior to V97. You can edit the XML file yourself and add the appropriate tags. If you do some searches in the forums you'll find some older postings giving examples on how to setup the PriorityRecording.xml file manually.

Following various threads, it appears that priorty recording (originally released as CDK Scheduler and now part of XRecord) doesn't work with SQLLite, the database currently used with GB-PVR 99.5. Although it seems possible for those already using the feature to keep it working, it seems like it is not an option for new users to try (unless they have advanced computer skills). If so, would it be reasonable for me to modify the WIKI to clarify that the message "If you switch to SQLLite it will defintely not work, but should still work if you are using Microsoft Access." in the description of CDK scheduler also applies to XRecord and means that the plugin won't work with version 99.5? (and to watch the forum as the plugin may be updated to work with Net2 and SQLLite in the future)?

I found the following comments from King Argyle that seem to suggest this is correct, but I may have missed something.

PriorityRecording will not work until it is recompiled for .Net 2.0. This was not done when XRecord was recompiled to .Net 2.0.

PriorityRecording does not work with 97.9, if you need it to work, you have to use a version prior to 97.9.

Ton has done some updates to CDK Scheduler that haven't made it to the Wiki yet as far as I know. If you search the support and community forums you should find some updates that will get it working with the most current versions of GBPVR.

I would say by this time that the changes have been tested enough, that once you find them, feel free to post them up on the Wiki, and update appropriately. Will save others headaches in the long run.
