Ability to record first run programs only

My TimeWarner PVR has the ability to only record first runs of a program no matter what time it is on for a particular channel. This would be a VERY nice feature for GBPVR (if Zap2It listings give this info!)

You can try using the I-xmltv utility for this. (on the wiki as TVGuideSuperCharger)

It will add a * to the end of the program name if it is an Original Air Date show..

Does it actually PREVENT recording non-new showings, or does it just indicate that a program is new? What I wanted was an option in the record menu that was - Record first-run showings only

When you setup a program to record, you simply pick the one with the * in the name. For example, if you liked watching House, there would be two listings House and House*. Pick House* and you only get the new episodes.

So, new episodes only when I schedule a whole season recording?

Record the whole season but record the program called "program name *" with the asterix on the end. This way it's only new recordings.

OK, it won't stay on XMLTV plugin for the listings - after I change it and update the EPG (which it loads from the TVGuide.xml file) and I say OK, it reverts back to Zap2It for the EPG plugin!
