Hi,
This is probably a stupid questionRolleyes

I have installed GBPVR onto my pc and its fantastic, and I really want to put it onto my TV in the living room (My PC is in the bed room), I`am considering buying the bits and making a media centre just for the front room, Is there another option? Like the philips streamium? where you can stream from the pc to a box in the front room. If so whats the best hardware to buy.

Thanks for any advice

take a look at the MVP (not capable of HDTV), should have the best performance/price ratio if you have to start spending money Wink

Thanks for the replys,

Just got a couple of questions about it, when viewing on the TV screen does it show GBPVR or does it show the MVP software.
Also is it possible to view live TV on this? or just recordings.

Also are the other options available, web radio, Utube ect?

Where is the cheapest place to buy 1 of these, Amazon UK are selling them for £60.58

Thanks again

It will show the full gbpvr interface. Anything you can do in gbpvr, you will be able to do with the MVP, with the exception of watching DVD's. XVID/DIVX will be watchable if your server is fast enough to transcode them on-the-fly into mpeg format.

Oh, I forgot, certain plugins might not be possible to run on the MVP? Not sure, though.

Sorry, I don't know. Never used them. I know that it has been discussed in the MVP part of this forum though. Try a search there and see if you can come up with some useful info.

I own and use a wMVP. The wireless works OK. It can be a little glitchy but when the connection hangs you can usually bring it back by simply power cycling the wMVP.

If you ever get into running any MVP hobbyware (e.g. mvpmc) just realize that most of it doesn't yet support the wireless link.

GB-PVR comes with an MVP image ready to go, it is a very slick system.

Live TV works, viewing SD recordings works, the MVPs can't decode AC3 so you can't hear DVD or ATSC audio.

Response on my setup can be a little slow but it isn't a big problem. I'm glad I got mine; this is one main reason I settled on GB-PVR in the first place.
