USN Video Capture card not supported

I have Telewest cable in the UK.

And I purchased a USB2.0 Video Capture Card (DC20M) which provides a MPEG2 video stream to my PC.

I have installed the drivers and can open it as a webcam in from My Computer, so surely it must be possible for GB-PVR to recognise this stream and use it.

I'm guessing this device doesnt have the required hardware MPEG2 encoder.

The device does have built in MPEG2 encoding.

I tried to make sense of the page on the Wiki about configuring new capture devices and editing the ini file, but I'm afraid I didn't work it all out.

Any further help would really be appreciated.

You'd have to try to create a new section for direct.ini. This will be a bit of trial and error, of which you'll need to do most of.

I'll try to get you started if you can run the filtercheck utility, then zip and attach the resulting filtercheck.log http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=1...ostcount=6

Sorry, but this device seems to use separate audio and video capture filters, which is incompatible with GB-PVR. It expects these to combined in one filter.

Oh well, I guess I'd better buy another capture box.

Can you recommend one? It doesn't need a tuner obviously.

You'd be best to stick to commonly used devices like the Hauppauge PVR150, ATI 550 pro etc since these are widely support and well understood. If you encounter problems with one of these devices you're more likely to get a fix.

Very few devices dont have a tuner, but they dont really add anything to the price of the device, and you dont have to use it if you dont want.

One last thing, I'm using a laptop which can take cards or USB. Is there a good device?
