I was able to get client access working yesterday (see http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=23937).

However, I'm not able to access recordings or live TV on the client. For recordings in streaming mode, GB-PVR just hangs. In file sharing mode, it returns to the recording list.

For live TV in streaming mode, it hangs for a little bit, and says something like "Cannot connect to recording service." I haven't tried live TV in file sharing mode.

I've tried overlay mode for recordings in streaming mode, but it didn't help.

Attached are the client and server log files. Thanks.

Edit: I was able to access one recording directly from the file using VLC. It worked.

Did you install a mpeg-decoder on the client?
Do you have the appropriate ports open in your firewall? There are 2.
Quoting Sub:

TCP/IP port 7967 is used for streaming media. TCP/IP port 7968 is used for .net remoting communication with the server.

Yeah, I'm guessing something firewall related. The server logs show no indication of a client connection ever arriving.

I turned the firewall off on the server, it still didn't work, then back on; and off on the client, it still didn't work, and back on. I am able to access the MPEG files for the recordings just fine in VLC. Is there anything in the client logs?

The client logs look like its trying to connect, and will probably timeout eventually. The server looks like it never receives that request.

Maybe turn both off at the same time.Smile

I had the same problem on a client. I didn't install MPG decoders on it. My tuner card on the server installed them and I forgot all about it. I used the open source MPEG decoders and all was well. VLC uses a lot of its built in decoders so isn't a fair test since GB-PVR can't access those.

Maybe a stupid question, but did you enter the correct name of the server in the client config? Big Grin Possibly you could try to enter the ip address instead of the name, in case you have a name lookup problem...
I'm not always right
