GB-PVR seems to work OK, and live TV is fine, but my recordings suffer from dropped frames and outages of a second or two, sometimes up to several times a minute.

This is not signal related, as live TV quality is fine and we have no problems at all with our main television which is fed from the same antenna. I have also never expereinced any similar problem with my older Adaptec analogue tuner and WinDVR software.

I don't believe the problem is hardware-related, as I have tried two different PCI cards, a KWorld DVB-T 220 and a Pinnacle PCTV Hybrid Pro. The behaviour with both is very similar.

My machine is fairly high spec, with SCSI disks, a 3GB processor and 2GB RAM.

Does anyone know what could be causing this?

Thanks
Andrew

I have same problem since version 98.5 (now I use 99.5)

What is your capture card?

I use Celeron 2.5GHz 1GB of ram
PVR-150 with 2.7 driver

Sub tell me it is problably a driver problem... but after I upgraded to 2.7 the problem still there Sad

andrewj's problem above is problem related to the mux filter he is using, or signal problems. He has a digital card, which works very differently from your PVR150.

Your PVR150 problem is most likely either just a playback problem (try different decoders), or driver problem. I'd take one of the recordings and play it on another machine to check.

The problem is at recording time... I try to play .mpg file on differant system with differant tool (VLC, powerDVD, ...) and the problem is there.

You can look the problem http://www.soluexpert.com/Amy.mpg
(partial recording, 18 MB file)

We are 3 friends with the same setup (computer, pvr-150, mediamvp, ...) and all experience problem (differant interval and duration)

I want to give some hint:
- When the problem occur on 1 recording, if I have another recording at the same time (2nd tuner and PVR-150) this 2nd recording have same drop-out frame at same time (ex: 10 minutes after show start)

- I tried to use 100% CPU and/or lot of disk acces to see if the problem occur during hi utilisation... no problem during this test

- The system is dedicated to GBPVR, no other software run on it

Thanks for your help, I very appreciate.

Yeah, thats odd. It could only be the drivers or the device itself causing this.

Have you applied the PVR150 timestamp fix? It could be somehow related to this. See http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=14006

Yes timestamp register modification is done on all 3 systems

1 difference between system is the model of PVR-150
some are with 1042 and other with 1045

But I dont thing all 6 PVR-150 is bad.

Does some information about drop-out are in log file?

No, there wont be anything in the GB-PVR logs. The data that comes out of the PVR150 is written straight to disk without GB-PVR doing any processing on that data. GB-PVR doesnt know anything about the contents of that data at recording time.

I suppose its possible some chipset or shared IRQ problem could be a factor. Other than that, I cant really think of anything specific to look into.

I'm sure this fault isnt of GB-PVR's making.

Sub,

Any ideas about my problem (first post)? It's definitely not a signal problem, and seems to occur with the default MS mux, and also the Intervideo and Cyberlink ones.

Do you need any other info?

Thanks

What does the output of mux checker say on your machine?

Dear Sub,

It reports:
GB-PVR has detected the following multiplex filters on your machine:

Found: InterVideo Multiplexer
FILE: F:\Program Files\InterVideo\Common\Bin\ivimux.ax
VERSION: 3.0.79.81

Found: CyberLink MPEG Muxer
FILE: F:\Program Files\Cyberlink Multiplexers\THMpgMux.ax
VERSION: 5.0.2022

If you're running WinXP SP1 or higher, you will also be able to use the built-in DVR-MS mux filter
I am running WXP SP2, so I also have the MS Mux.

Thanks
Andrew
