While watching live TV (using a STB) after I select one of the recording options, gbpvr does a channel change on the STB. This channel change seems unnecessary to me since I'm already watching channel X, why change to channel X before recording?

Because gbpvr cannot know whether you have changed channels manually on the STB, so it's just to make sure...
I'm not always right

This is normal. It does it because its reusing functions from elsewhere in the application that do need this. Its not been a problem for anyone else in the past though, so not really something I'd intended to change.

I agree sub, it's not a problem (bug) but it's not very efficient either. It will also help decrease the response times.

It is efficient in terms of development effort. To save myself a lot of development time, it was something I was prepared to live with. This isnt a function that occurs that often, so not a big deal.
