I have 4 capture sources available for recordings ( 2 x Hauppauge 500PVR).
I was running version 98.8 perfectly and recently upgraded to 99.5.

Now i have a problem when recording two shows after another on the same channel. For example show 1 is from 20:30 untill 21:00 and show 2 is from 21:00 untill 21:30. I have a pre-padding of 5 minutes and a post-padding of 15 minutes. No other recordings are scheduled for this time so tuner 3 and 4 are free.

Show 1 starts to record untill 20:55 when it is time to start recording show 2. Then the log shows : "Schedule recording is allocated to a tuner that is currently in use.... Moving recording to another available capture source."
So he starts to move the recording from tuner1 to tuner 2 with the result that he starts to record in a new file. The recording shows Failed and points to the second file (Gilmore girls_20070206_20302130-2.mpg).

Also see the attached log files.

Is there a solution for this??? A setting i can change?
I have four tuners available for recording so there is no need to switch tuners during recordings.

take a look at this thread here http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=23613 & check your config.xml
the default should be
<PreferAlternatingCaptureSources>false</PreferAlternatingCaptureSources>
and
<TryToHonourPaddingIfPossible>true</TryToHonourPaddingIfPossible>

If you schedule four recordings for the same time, do they all work? ie, are each of the four capture sources definitely functioning?

Yes all tuners can record at the same time.

It only occurs when two shows are on the same channel.

Sorry, I'm not really sure. Did a D:\MPEG\Video\Gilmore girls_20070206_20302130.mpg file get created?

I had problems with these shows too. It was a epg-problem, having a lot of them lately.
The shows are back to back but the epg let's the 2nd one start 5 mins before the 1rst one has ended. You can see this in the log too.

Code:
6-2-2007 21:25:00.453 VERBOSE [6] Adding D:\MPEG\Video\Gilmore girls_[B]20070206_20302130[/B].mpg to commercial detection queue
6-2-2007 21:25:00.453 VERBOSE [6] Not adding D:\MPEG\Video\Gilmore girls_20070206_20302130.mpg to conversion detection queue. Conversions are currently disabled.
6-2-2007 21:25:00.484 VERBOSE [6] Changing to channel (GBPVR.Backend.Common.NullTunerController): 37
6-2-2007 21:25:00.484 VERBOSE [6] Requesting IRecordingSource to start recording: D:\MPEG\Video\What about Brian_[B]20070206_21252230[/B].mpg

I don't know if it has to do with you're problem or that it is just a coincidence.
AMD Athlon 64 3000, HDD: 80, 120, 200 GB, Hauppauge 350 + 150, MVP, Asus 6000L Laptop client, Asus X50sl client,
Fritz!box 7140 modem/router, GBPVR 1.3.7.

HtV:
The 5 minute early start is because of the pre-padding so thats normal.
The second recording should just start on tuner 2 and should not try to record on tuner 1 where there is already a recording in progress.

Sub:
Both D:\MPEG\Video\Gilmore girls_20070206_20302130.mpg and D:\MPEG\Video\Gilmore girls_20070206_20302130-2.mpg where indeed created!
Allmost all failed recording are infact recorded to disk but show failed in the recording section.
And with two shows back to back it switches tuner and the end of show one....
