Of course there may be different versions of the OEM Hauppauge remote too?

The hauppauge standard remote has the text characters as well.

I've not managed to get text entry using them working though with the MVP and when I turn the option on with config, it makes using numbers on the PC a bit of a pain.

martint123 and all the other posters on this thread its been very helpful, thanks much.

Looks like I'll go with the MVP. I'm assuming I'll be able to take the component out of the MVP and put it into the component-in of system like a Sony DAV-DX375
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-Qwqn9LyuLVX...158DAVX375

so the gbpvr menus come up on the svideo into the TV but the audio, MP3 library, plays through the Sony? I'm guessing they'll play through the TV too, but I can mute that. In otherwords, does the MVP drive both Svideo and component video outputs simultaneously?

Sorry, I can't answer you questions about component out. I have an earlier MVP that just outputs RGB direct to the TV SCART connector.

Unless Crutchfileds specs on the Sony DAV-DX375 are wrong, I don't see any way to get video into that model. It does list component, composite and s-video out though which makes me think it must have an input unless that's just for an OSD from the receiver.

Perhaps the Sony DAV-FX500 would be better suited.

Just read carefully before ordering.

Thanks again!

If you can find one cheap enough, a geforce 6200 PCI gives a great picture.
Their kinda scarce these days though.
I bought mine 6 mos. ago from Newegg for $30 but they no longer carry them.

The geforce 5200 & radeon 9250 are fairly common & relativly inexpensive.
I currently use a 5200 & with some color tweaking the picture is pretty decent.
Also the geforce 4 & radeon 7000 PCI cost even less but I'm not familiar with their TV-out quality.

Must just say do you ralise the appalling quality of text etc on a tv out type system?,, text would be unreadable from just a few feet away, i've tried with the best of pc kit and it just aint worth it m8, put the money towards a new tv with dvi/vga in put is my best advice
