I started an earlier thread because some of my recordings have a screwed up timeline. this is indicated by the timeline showing that the video recorded is shorter thatn it usually is (some 2 hr movies are indicated to be 15 minutes long), an the skip function is very erratic and useless. Pressing the skip forward button might casue a skip of up to 16 minutes, and in either direction.

I have changed my register to the recommended settings. Since I am uncertain that I did it correctly, I am attaching a print screen of the registry editor. To enter the lines, I had to enter them as 'Strings". Hopefully that is correct. I rebooted the machine

However, I downloaded two videos since and I have the same problem. The movie is indicated to be shorter than it is and the skip is erratic.

Any suggestions?

Its unlikely you'd download any videos that would have this time line problem, unless they happen to MPG files recorded by a PVR150/500 with the same problem.

What type of files were they? mpg/xvid/divx? Play the file, then zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

The registry settings above only relate to new recordings you make on your machine, not videos you've downloaded, or recordings you'd made previously. You created them incorrect though. You need to create them as DWORD settings, not strings. As example, the first setting needs to have a name of 'HcwTimeStampIssue1' and a DWORD value of '1' (or 0x00000001 in hex), same story for the second setting.

Otoh it is very well possible (if not likelyWink ) that downloaded videos suffer from timeline problems. There are alot of people that without any video-knowledge whatsoever put videos on the net.:eek:

I know its possible, but I still think its unlikely. Nearly all the videos I see for download have been converted to xvid/divx etc.

Sub I totally agreed with youSmile , just saying they would very well possible suffer from timeline problems, just not (as you stated already) this timeline problem.

Sub, I don't think that there is any reason for me to send you logs on what I have been recorded because, as you noted, I did not change the registry correctly. Not knowing any better, I tried to put the lines as written into the registry, and the only way I could as a string. Therefore, it was no better than doing nothing.
However, I now have about a50% chance of having the registry correct. The ony question that I have is if I should have included the quotation marks with the name. I did not. for the name, I just copied what was inside the quotation marks. for the value, I copied what was listed and entered it as a dword.. Below is a printscreen of my reg editor now. Is it correct? There are absolutely no instructions with this thing, so I am flying blind. I/ve read the Microsoft stuff but it too assumes some knowledge.

I should have included a copy of what I as copying.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\hcwPP2\DriverData
"HcwTimeStampIssue1"=dword:00000001
"HcwTimeStampIssue2"=dword:00000000

I have some movies scheduled for tonight so I'll find out
