I know this has been an issue for some others, but I'm not certain what the fix is. Recorded shows and live TV both have distorted audio and start to clip. It's like the card is adding gain to the volume, and when a scene has a lot of action, or people start yelling, you can hear the audio distort and clip. I'm running the newest drivers from hauppauge, the 2.7 release, but I'm at a loss for fixing this issue. I'm aware of the tweak tool, but I'm not sure that it will work with the current hauppauge drivers. I found some information about registry tweaks, but once again, not certain they would affect my version. I did change:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Hauppauge\hcwtvdlg\audiocontrols
Scart1_Volume 0x0000007c (124) -- origional value
Scart1_Volume 0x0000006f (111) -- what I changed it to
I did not notice a change. I do not have registry entries for 8775Reg17 in:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\hcwPP2\DriverData
If anyone knows the correct registry place to disable the Automatic Gain Control, I would appreciate it.
If anyone else has resolved this issue, please post what steps you took, so maybe I can reduce the overall volume level of the card.
Thanks.
