Here's my problem:

My recorded shows all have little 1-sec glitches every 30 seconds. The show records fine, and picture quality is good, but every 30 seconds (exactly!) I lose a second - it jumps. The audio and video remain in sync throughout. This problem occurs on every channel I record from, and whatever time I record. I've also tried quiting all unnecessary programs (Yahoo messenger, Outlook Express, Firefox etc.) to see if they are interrupting.

My setup is:
DVB-T card (Hauppauge 9002)
Cyberlink MPEG Muxer (5.0.1307)

I record direct to MPEG. I had sync problems with the Microsoft DVR-MS, as the audio and video were constantly out of sync. The MPEG recordings are also a lot smaller, which is good for me.

Anyone got any suggestions?

Adam,

Could the CPU cycle issue discussed in this forum http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...cpu+cycles
be you issue?
Might be worth looking into.

Best of Luck Kevin

Thanks for the speedy reply, Zathras, but this is not the same problem. That thread (and I read all 165 posts!) relates to timeshifted TV, and was fixed at the end by a software upgrade. I'm running the latest version (0.99.5) and am not timeshifting, just watching recorded TV.

Any more ideas?

Notice you're using a Hauppuage card, might be the problem in the thread below:

Hey fray_bentos, thanks for that thread. I've read through and it identifies a possible problem with the BDACheckSignalStatusDuringRecording flag in config.xml. I've changed it from 30 seconds to 0 seconds and will experiment. Hopefully it's that simple ... thanks in advance.

It solved my problem which seems identical. Worked a treat on my system, and the other person who started the thread also had a problem which was solved by this. Makes it much nicer to watch the recordings.

Checked it with a 40 minute recording and it works PERFECTLY! Phew, my recording problems are solved. Thanks to all who helped and pointed me in the right direction!

Damn good software, Sub! I love it. My next challenge: commercial deletion ...

For the next release I've changed the default to 0, since a small number of cards have drivers that effectively lock up for a short duration when the signal lock status.

Minor request ref the above, would there be any chance to include strength/quality in the log alongside the "checking signal status" message? It might help me find why I sometimes get blocky recordings but when I check the strength and quality it seems fine. (only a snippet of the log, too many reboots and the original rolled over).

It shows the strength/quality in the -native.log file at the same times.
