I just happened to be sitting in the same room as my GBPVR server when I say an error dialog pop up. The recording service had crashed. GBPVR was streaming to an MVP at the time, but other than that the PC wasn't in use (other than whatever background things Windows does).

The system event viewer didn't seem to helpful, but had this to say:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: Application Error
Event Category: (100)
Event ID: 1000
Date: 2/18/2007
Time: 7:22:32 AM

Description:
Faulting application GBPVRRecordingService.exe, version 1.0.2547.27412, faulting module kernel32.dll, version 5.1.2600.2945, fault address 0x00012a5b.

I've also attached my logs. The one from today doesn't seem to have anything of use, but I also noticed yesterday that the recording service had dies, and that log seems to have something more interesting.

I got that error when fiddling with the new ewa-rssfeeds. I started the "rssfeedsexe", nothing happened, but when I tried to open the normal ewa the rec-service locked up and gave this error. Well....that's what I think happened. I didn't investigate any further and let it be.

Edit: I wasn't not very clear. I was talking about the error in gbpvrrecordingserviceexe-1.log.

Nope. Is there something I can configure so that it will in the future?

I wish I knew Big Grin I'm fairly sure there is, as some people seem to get them, others dont. Something to do with DrWatson I think...

Its possible to use the microsoft utility ADPlus to start the recording service, using the RUN command line, which will then monitor it and produce a minidump when the crash occurs. This mini dump should give some glues to the exact cause. Let me know if you want to set this up and I'll give you the exact command line.

I'm going to be on holiday for the next week so I am hesitant to setup anything like this right now, but if you post the command line I'll set it up when we get back.

I saw DrWatson run when I had that problem but I closed it right away in ProcessExplorer. So I repeated the problem and let DrWatson run until it finished, took a few mins. I couldn't find a C:\windows\minidump.

I did find however a file called 1D96804.dmp (size: 340235) in C:\windows temp. But it was from the 1st lockup, according to the timestamp (when I stopped DrWatson). No file from the last time, only a log mentioning drwatson started.
Maybe someone can shine some light on this one.
