Poor backround images with PVR 350

Yeah I see your point. It really does boil down to fixed versus custom pallets. A custom 8-bit pallet would probably look similar to my TV picture.

A optimized 8 or 15 bit colour palettle would look better, but several years back when I tried it, it made the interface way too slow. (nearly one second per key press on my old 1.8GHz machine)

...of course none of this matters now though since the PVR350 tv out is no longer supported. If the appearance bothers you, the most you'll be able to do is design you own skin that is based on flat colours and more flattering it the PVR350. There used to be a skin called 'flat blue' that may still exist.
