Any advantage/disadvantage to using VLC over FFmpeg as the transcode engine?

Personally I wish the controls didn't save automatically because I'd like to be able to cancel out if I decide I don't like my changes.

I guess I won't tell you the secret then... Big Grin

Currently none. It does transcode faster, but ffmpeg does a better job keeping things in sync for the several test files and two systems (slow/fast)

The VLC implement was in preparation for the new release where there will be scads more control over picture quality and audio parameters. I'm looking forward to that, but I haven't been able to find a nightly build of 0.90 that would work me...

The new version, 984 saves to the config.xml only when you press 'save'...

Thanks for all your work, zehd.

I've found another minor issue. When specifying backup folder's and others, clicking the New Folder button and creating one then introduces the challenge of actually getting the folder selected. Its hard to explain, but try it and see what I mean. It keeps wanting to use the name "New Folder" instead of the new name you gave it.

Welcome to Windows. The browser is called via API and I have no control. I know exactly what you are talking about...

Here's a workaround. Once you have a 'New Folder', right click on it and you can change the name...

I wasn't having trouble changing the name. It's after I change the name the new name isn't reflected in the select folder name shown at the bottom of the dialog. You have to click off the new folder name onto another, and then back on the new folder name to get it "selected".

Anyway, it's no big deal and if it's API-related, obviously out of your control.

If you're right handed, use the left.... the folder gets created in the right location then...
