I upgraded to 99.12 (and all patches), but the following problem was happening before hand (it started a few days ago). Hoped 99.12 would fix it. I checked and my Zap2It status is active and good until April.

Event Type: Error
Event Source: .NET Runtime 2.0 Error Reporting
Event Category: None
Event ID: 5000
Date: 3/10/2007
Time: 10:40:29 PM
User: N/A
Computer: <<....>>
Description:
EventType clr20r3, P1 zapimport.exe, P2 5.9.2555.25859, P3 4596bc56, P4 system, P5 2.0.0.0, P6 44c04059, P7 1f2f, P8 1bd, P9 system.net.webexception, P10 NIL.

I've attached the zipped logs....

BTW, does 9.12 add any support for configuring a GBPVR client to not start the recording service?

I researched the exception and decided to try a new db3 file (renamed copies of the existing ones). I got the following exception when trying an EPG Update. Is there something I need to do to init the db3 file? I'd rather not have to create a new one and lose my links to my recorded movies... bummer.

I also noticed the original error in this message has been as far back as 1/29... So it doesn't happen every day.

No it doesnt. It was easier for me just to leave it running.

I see two specific types of zap2it error in your logs:

Quote:3/1/2007 7:01:31 AM.654 VERBOSE [10] Error updating EPG Source (avermedia): System.Net.WebException: The remote name could not be resolved: 'datadirect.webservices.zap2it.com'
This first error is typically caused by one of two things - either the GB-PVR Recording Service being unable to access your configured DNS server (firewall in the way ect), or the zap2it webserver being down at the time of the request. I suspect the latter.

Quote:3/2/2007 7:01:22 AM.653 VERBOSE [10] Error updating EPG Source (avermedia): System.Net.WebException: The remote server returned an error: (500) Internal Server Error.
This is the more common of the two errors in your logs. Its saying the zap2it server encountered a problem processing your request. Usually when people get this, if they log into http://labs.zap2it.com and try to view their channel lineup, they'll find its been removed, or no channels are listed in their lineup. This is a zap2it bug. It isnt common but seems to occasionally happen. Fixed by channel lineup again.

I don't suspect a firewall, so I'll just try again for these errors.

Bingo! I didn't notice that they dropped my lineup as I was looking just for an active status! Sorry to bother you. I never thought they would wipe out my settings....

P.S.
It would be cool if you had software that would automate the scaninng of logs, finding typical errors and then give folks suggestions based on what you have seen as the cause. Would that save time replying over the time it takes to create and update it?

To be honest, I dont think that would be practical. There are very very few errors that can be easily identified by specific log messages, and I dont think it'd be worth the time of trying to write such a tool.

This happened to me this week. Zap2it lineup disappeared. The symptom was the EPG not updating. When I logged into Zap2it no lineup. This is when I remembered that in Houston Time Warner is handing over cable operations to Comcast. My Time Warner profile must have been deleted and not replaced with the corresponding Comcast profile as a part of the transfer of operations from Time Warner to Comcast.
