I just found my old mpeg2 decoder card made by Sigma Designs. The chip is the EM8300. Any chance GBPVR can use the decoder for output?

I also have one of these Cards. I stopped using it when Some DVD's wouldn't work with it. It is 7 or 8 years old.
That was my first DVD player.
The Video out on these cards is great. It would be nice if the GB-PVR would output through it.

yeah, i have a relative with the Via 800Mhz chip that is too slow for decoding...
so, i was hoping to give the board a new lease on life with this mpeg card.

Well all I can say is that this card don't have any OSD options... However using some modified drivers one can use the same directshow filters as the ones Xcard uses so watching MPEG2 material should work OK...
Maybe one could use some blending options to get OSD but this will mean CPU usage will go up...

I would also like to see the H+ card in use

Sorry guys, this card doesn't have OSD hardware and is never going to be supported by GB-PVR.

it does not have osd the convenitonal way, but it would be possible to display osd.. they do it in VDR... display osd over the hplus card.. but I think techically in windows now it would only be possible if you use win98/windows 2000.. unless some one takes the linux driver and makes it compatible XP

for the hplus card. since my hplus driver package work quite well. in your software render mode would you consider connecting to my filters.. ( it the basically same dsfilter as what the xcard uses) so for both video and audio it would need to be the default redender....
you would have to use pc audio out - no pcm wrapper so I think it would work roughly the same as a software code

then for those who wish to display it on a TV you would need to connect it to a analog converter or to a pc projector or those tv's that have TV's with vga connectors to the hplus vga out put..

well think about it if you want.. it would make alot of hplus user happy...

windows media player do not connect the pins correctly all the time. unless it told how to to connect such as with mplayerc (mediapplayer classic) can do.. if I force my filter to be the hplus to be default system you program builds the default windows way which is incorrect for these sigma filters.. windows build it using other them sigma splitter. or connect the audio to differnt pins then the sigma filter usually it seems quite random in it choices..

anyway if you sometimes feel like doing it. it quite easy to do.. since you want to insert your osd and you want to work with vmr 9 ( for example- it still easily done) all you would do is display the video ( the video window could be hidden). but to get the the osd to display you build it on top of the the mask colour which is red 34, green 34, blue 34. then the the video would display and the osd would simply be a transpart mask ontop of the video

because basically I do the same thing with My Theater 2.76. it happens to leave the active window active on the desktop eventhough the program itself is mimized. you simple set your desktop colour to 34,34,34 and the video will display as wallpaper.. you can test it for yourself just try it with your xcard -should work still..
