Since there are so many TV Wonder 550s being used with the GB-PVR software, surely someone would have created a consolidate settings post or document?
I've just installed the 550 and the GB_PVR software last night and am pretty lost on how to configure my system. There are so many items and most people just don't have time to research the meaning of every single setting.

I got so far as to let the EPG search for channels while connected to my cable but it only found 2 out of a possible 100+. So this ain't gonna be as easy as I thought.

First impression of the software, love it!

Any help is appreciated.

You shouldnt have to worry about most settings. Just start the config app and create a capture source. Set it to use the 'direct recording plugin' select the ATI 550 Pro card. Set you EPG Source to whatever you're using (zap2it, xmltv etc), then it the update EPG. If you're using xmltv, then you'll also need to enter the channel numbers next to each channel. Thats pretty much it.

Thanks Sub for the quick response.
The EPG thing is where I get lost. To my knowledge I'm not using any other signal source other than Time Warner cable. Zap2it or xmltv? When I initially setup the capture source I selected Xmltv, not because I knew what I was doing or anything.
I have my primary PC in my study and I use the ATI 650 there and unfortunately use the Catalyst Media Center (this was before wisdom set in) and the EPG source is either Titan TV or Time Warner cable itself, not sure.
Sorry to be so ignorant in this subject but do I have to do anything to use either of these services you mentioned? Subscribe, pay money, blood, first born, or what?

Regards,

If you're in the US or Canada, then you'll most likely want to use the zap2it EPG source. It doesnt cost anything. Just go to http://labs.zap2it.com and create an account (use certificate code DCZM-DENI-BUTV), and select your channel lineup. Then enter the username/password into GB-PVR's zap2it settings.

I am getting an error message saying that the EPG source is not configured correctly. I have registered and am using the username given to me from the email they sent. I can login their site using this information but the EPG says something is wrong. I tried to upload a screen shot of the message but it was too big. Do you need the log file to diagnose?

Did you create the account at http://labs.zap2it.com? You cant use an account from http://www.zap2it.com, which is a separate thing.
