03/20/07 : 0.4.2
  • Cleaned up Community Skins so presentation is more consistent
  • Made Buttons on Recording screen clickable.
  • Add label indicator for current position in list(s) (skin change)

Do you mean in the install program?

It defaults to Program files (and then the denv\gbpvr directory). I can look at the installer to see if I can figure out how to read registry and default to that entry.

Yup, in the installer. Other plugins use the install dir from the registry.

2 more suggestions:
  • Make right mouse click exit your plugin in all cases. It works if you don't enter Schedule Recording screen. Once you do, right click won't exit.
  • When you search for an item, let's say only 1 show is returned but there are multiple episodes. The show name is automatically selected, and if you click on the first episode, it enters the Schedule Recording screen. If you select any other episode, it first highlights the episode. A 2nd click is required to set the recording. It seems the first episode is considered selected, yet it isn't highlighted. It shouldn't be considered selected.

Whenever I try to schedule a recording and I have a recording scheduled for that time, I get a popup saying there is a conflict and your plugin won't let me record during that slot. However, I have two tuners and one is not being used and could have recording the show. I imagine this adds a whole new can of worms, but if possible, please add it to the wishlist for a future release to support multiple tuners.

First, thanks for all the good input and testing support.

I'll take a look at updating the installer to use the registry for plugin location.

I just noticed the problem with the right-click (or back on MVP) also. I will fix that. I'll also take a look at the UI behavior you mentioned when selecting the 1st program time.

I only have 1 tv card in my pc, so not sure exactly how the scheduling works with 2 cards. Do you have to select which card will do the recording, or does the scheduling engine handle that?

Right now I have written code to detect if there is already a recording during that time period and I show the dialog prior to attempting to schedule. It might be as simple as removing the code and just attempt to schedule the show, if it fails, there were no recording sources available...

You have no control over which card is used for the recording. GBPVR internally selects the tuner.

If you want to give any test code a shot for multiple tuners, I would be glad to test it if you want.

I also have 2 tuners (see our sigs!) and can test for you.

New version posted to wiki with following fixes:

03/21/07 0.4.3
  • Handle right-click, escape, (exit/back MVP)
  • Fix click on 1st item in program times list
  • Allow Recording Scheduler to handle conflicts for those machines with more than a single TV card.
  • For shows that have potential conflict, display number of conflicts in the eyecatcher.
  • Custom conflict dialog when a recording cannot be scheduled due to conflicts.

Javawiz,
Looks great. I like the touch of listing how many tuners are in use in the green box. It's a little hard to see on the TV and might need to bump up a notch in text size.
The conflict dialog with two tuners doesn't quite look right. here's an image to show what I'm talking about.

The scheduling works very well. Thanks for the fix.

Looks like maybe the skin did not get updated.

Check if the
..../Common Dialogs/Recording Dialog Skin.xml
has the following entries:

<SpecialElement name="ConflictRecordingDialog" loc="25,35"/>
<SpecialElement name="ConflictDetails" loc="50,75"/>
<SpecialElement name="ConflictOkButton" loc="250,395" spacing="35"/>

If not, then most likely the install didn't work right.
Try reinstalling, if that does not work, delete the above file and re-install again.

JavaWiz,
I checked
C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\skin\Blue\Common Dialogs\Recording Dialog Skin.xml

The entries were there. I tried deleting the file and re-installing just to make sure and I got the same result with the dialog I posted.
Any other thoughts?
