After discovering that Zap2It was gone, I started playing with various methods of getting an EPG so my GBPVR would work again. Zap2XML seemed like the favorite, so I fired it up.

However, I still seem to be stuck. After setting up my preferences according to the instructions, and running the tool, I only get one channel. It's listed as "i.labs.zap2it.com". I saw another individual complain about this, and they mentioned deleting the cache. I have tried deleting the cached .html files that are generated by zap2xml with the -c command, but I still only get one channel. Is there another cache file to delete? Could it be something that I have done wrong?

Just to be sure, did you go into your account at the Zap2It web site, go into preferences, and select the channels you want as your favorites (even if you're like me, it was all of them?)

To delete the cache, simply delete ALL the files in the cache subdirectory.

Make sure you follow the directions on the zap2xml website about setting up your preferences on Zap2It.
  1. Check "Show six hour grid" option.
  2. Check "Show only my favorites in the grid" option.
  3. Select all channels you want in your grid by adding them to the "My Favorites" column

I'm also having this problem. I have followed these instructions and still get the single channel with all the programs on it.

When you say you only get 1 channel listed, is that in GBPVR or did you actually view the XML file created by the Zap2XML utility?

I had some problems with duplicate channels from prior configuration, so I ended up :
  • Configuring Zap2Xml as described
  • Delete ALL files in the zap2xml/cache directory
  • Running the program to generate the xml file
  • In GBPVR config, Capture Source:
    • Empty the EPG
    • Deleting the Capture Source
    • Saving
    • Restarting config and re-adding capture source with xml file generated by Zap2Xml
    • Updating the EPG
Once I followed those steps, it seems to have worked. I am still having problem getting I-Xmltv to update with enhanced information, but the base EPG seems to be working fine now.

Blanket Answer to all above comments: Yes, I did as you suggest. A couple of times. On different days. With different sets of eyes checking my work on each day. Double Checked my work after a couple of hours away, to see if I could find the problem. Still no go. Sad

But, as fate would have it, this morning, working remote, I deleted the cache and xml file again, ran the exe, and now it works. I have no idea. Still can't find that I did anything different anywhere. But, I have channels. With program data. I give up.....

Thanks for your help anyway!

I am having trouble getting this installed. I subscribed to the service, selected favorites, and selected 6 columns, and favorites.

I downloaded the Zipped files and unzipped them. By default they were unzipped into a temporary file, and I could not even find them. I searched for them and didn't find them, but when i downloaded the zipped files again, I wa given the choice to overwrite existing files.

I changed the unzip routinte and unzipped zap2xml to the desk top. I found a black box with a fleeting glimpse of the code inside. A BAT file? What do i do with this? It is an application file. Not knowing any better, I copied it into the Third Party folder in the Gbpvr folder. However. I cannot find a program to configure, and when i try to load EPG's in the config.app, I get a message that I do not have correct configuration.

I have tried to attach a print screen image of the messagesbut have forgotten how. please help

There is no ui for this tool, its called by command line. You might do better with yapi2xml... its easier to setup & has better documentation. Check the wiki
