I am new to gbpvr, using hvr-1600 hdtv as my tuner.
After reading the forum here, I am able to map digital channels to EPG channels. I can see the channel in the small window, but when I run the GB-PVR, I cannot record, playback, or watch the live TV.

I find that it's hard to setup the hvr-1600 hdtv to the gbpvr. Any step by step guide around here?

Anyone can help?

thanks.

What happens when you try to view live tv? If you zip and attach you logs I'll take a look what is going wrong.

Welcome from a fellow noob and great choice of software! The work put into this by sub is truly impressive... and good choice in your tuner card.

You have got that right! But, once you have done it, it seems much more straightforward...

Not that I could find.

I'll give it a try...

I also own the HVR-1600 and I just went through all of this setup last weekend, so here is a quick guide to help you out.

First thing to mention is that I am using Zap2It and if you are too, do yourself a huge favor and setup a second account with Zap2It so you can have one for analog (selecting only cable changes) and a separate EPG feed for your ATSC channels (selecting only digital channels). This removes any guess work on GB-PVR's part as to which source to use when you record a channel.

I have labelled my analog input "HVR-1600 - Cable" and the ATSC input is "HVR-1600 - ATSC", but your labels should be substituted below as appropriate. Also, if I did not list a label here, then I did not change it, so leave the defaults.

Code:
Run GB-PVR Config.

    * "Capture Sources" tab
        Source Name = HVR-1600 - Cable
        Recording Source = Direct Recording Plugin
            Settings
                Capture Card Type = Hauppauge HVR-1600 (Analog)
                Country = USA
                Board Number = Capture Device #1
                Source = Internal Tuner
                Tuning = Cable
        EPG Source = Zap2It (USA/Canada only)

        Source Name = HVR-1600 - ATSC
        Recording Source = BDA Recording Plugin
            Settings
                Device Type = Hauppauge HVR-1600 (ATSC)
                Device Number = 1
                Type = ATSC
                Country = All Countries
                Region / Transmitter = Manual Tuning
        EPG Source = Zap2It (USA/Canada only)

    * "Directories" tab
        these are self-explanatory, but I put the tab here just to be sure you remember to enter them.

    * "Misc" tab
        BDA Multiplexer = TS Mux (Microsoft DVR-MS and Cyberlink also worked for me, but I prefer TS files).

That's it. You should be able to record analog cable and ATSC with the HVR-1600 using these settings. There are of course a lot of variations depending on your preferences (pre/post batch processing, auto conversion to other formats, plugins, etc..), but this is a good start for you. Besides, I have only had the software 5 days... Smile

Enjoy!

You need to create the zip file. The logs are in c:\program files\devnz\gbpvr\logs

So what happens when you try live tv?

When I double click the "live TV", it pops up an error message of "index was outside the bounds of the array."

I will zip the log folder and post it up here later.... thanks!

While using wintv2000 software to view the digital HDTV channel, the video is not smooth, notice the lagging video frame.

my system info:
Dell 8250, 2.4GHz CPU, 256MB RDRAM 1066, 200GB HDD, Audigy sound card, nvidia MX400 64MB AGP video card.
Which item should be upgraded to solve the problem?

===

Attached the zip file with the log.... hope that you know what's my problem.
Thanks!

I had problems with two systems and nvidia video cards. The drivers would crash trying to display 720p and up.
I installed an ATI 1300 a few days ago, latest drivers, great so far.
I have another ATI 1650 on order for the second system.
I'd say anything better that the ATI 1300 would help.

Your tuning request for that channel doesn't look correct. Your tuning request string:
Quote:2007-03-21 21:52:54.984 INFO BDARecorder:::StartRecording(Hauppauge HVR-1600 (ATSC), 1, , T:68)

A typical ATSC tuning request string:
Quote:2007-03-17 14:30:27.889 INFO BDARecorder:::StartRecording(Silicondust HDHomeRun Tuner 10100B5D-1, 1, , T:5,58,1~P:4~V:2112~A:2113~PMT:49~E:T~N:>58.1 WMYO (000(AC3)))
The red text is the minimum that you need for an ATSC tuning request. These are:
1) Physical and virtual channels ( T:<physical channel>,<major channel>,<minor channel> )
2) Program number ( P: )
3) Video PID number ( V: )
4) Audio PID number ( A: )

Thanks for the info..... I am not able to watch the digital channel in the "Live TV", and not able to record either.
Well... is there an easy way to setup it up right? I am not a programmer....
I know all the codes have a purpose.... but what is the major/minor channel, video PID and Audio PID?
