I have GB-PVR working well with the GT except that I get occasionally sub-second stuttering in the recording. If I play the file back in WMP it stutters in the exact same spot. It doesn't appear to be at regular intervals but it is annoying. I have searched the forums here and at AVSforums and tried a handful of things without any improvements.

Any ideas of where I should go next?

I have the OnAir GT also, and have seen what you're talking about. I really think it is signal. Last weekend I was watching the PGA, on my "upstairs" setup. I have Time Warner cable with a high def DVR. The high def feed was awful. The video was stuttering and pixelating like crazy. So I went down stairs, and checked the GT. Same thing, just a dreadful stuttering mess. Just my 2 cents.Smile

I have GB-PVR working pretty well with my onAir GT. However, the SD channels are compressed to the right half of the display and there is gibberish on the left side. HD channels display fine. I'm using Nvidia pure video decoder.

TIA,

Bill

This is probably the nvidia aspect ratio bug (bug in the nvidia video card drivers). See http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=15184&st=0

You can work around it a few ways. For example, switching to the 'vmr9 custom' renderer, or disabling hardware accelleration in the decoder you're using.

Yes, that's it.

Also, I had everything working, including timeshift and recording, Now, they are failing. It get an error message: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. I guess I should search the forum for that.

EDIT: I changed the renderer from VMR9 to VMR9 Custom as you recommended in the other thread. I didn't use the patched NativeUtilities.dll file because it is from last June. The display of SD channels is fine and timeshifting is working again. Will us GT folks continue to need to replace the NativeUtilities.dll in new releases with the one from October?

Your app is very nice. It doesn't have the speed of the app provided by OnAir, but for some reason the signal lock is more stable - I would not have expected that if it is using OnAir's drivers.

Ryan, would you please take a look at this thread:

http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=25237

Do you know why the GT would "never returned from the "stop" request, effectively locking up the recording service"?
Thanks,

With the latest patch by sub, I have fixed my last couple of bugs!!! The picture looks awesome! I am very happy with my configuration.

I just put some money toward the cause. Thanks, Sub

One problem that I encountered that I did not see mentioned in this forum was stuttering, choppy or skipping video (whatever you may call it) caused by poor USB voltage for the GT. There are a few posts in the AVS Forum (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=695589) about this. The stuttering was so bad it was pretty much unwatchable. I bought a $30 externally powered USB hub at Target, plugged the GT into it and it cleaned up all the stuttering. I just wanted to mention it here in case any other GB-PVR users were experiencing the same problem.

Great - glad we got it sorted, and thanks for the info about the USB hub.

sub Wrote:Can you see if the attached patch helps? It was the version of this file that was used when Ryan tested the OnAir support for me. Backup your original file first, so you can restore if needed (I'm not 100% sure this patch is binary compatible with the current release).

Hi Sub, I've been through the whole topic several times looking for any update to the PsiParser.ax patch you issued on page 4 but could not find anything. I used the patch with the latest software version (v0.99.12) and it made a great difference when scanning and mapping the channels but I had to back it out because the system crashed when you start it with the patch in stalled. Is there any other available solution for the weak signal on the scan/map of channels besides the PsiParser.ax patch?

To be honest, I dont remember what the issue was (and not going back and reading 18 pages). Can you give me some more details?

What problem are you having exactly?
