Guys, is there any way to get a log going for mencoder or ffmpeg, as both programs seems to stop halfway when transcoding for the MVP using zprocess.

A sample command line would be:
3/24/2007 5:43:01 PM : Commandline: "C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\Third Party\mplayer\mencoder.exe" -oac lavc -ovc lavc -of mpeg -mpegopts format=dvd:tsaf -vf scale=288:200,expand=-64:-40:30:20,eq2=1.00:1.00:0.00:1.00:1.00:1.00:1.00:1.00 -srate 44100 -af lavcresample=44100,volume=0.0 -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg2video:vrc_buf_size=1835:vrc_maxrate=6000:vbitrate=6000:keyint=25:acodec=mp2:abitrate=224:aspect=4/3 -ofps 29.97002997003 -sub "D:\Current Movies\UFC - Ultimate Knockouts 4.srt" -subpos 95 -font "C:\WINDOWS\fonts\trebuc.TTF" -subfont-text-scale 2.5 -o "D:\PVR\MVP000DFE008F9E1.mpg" "D:\Current Movies\UFC - Ultimate Knockouts 4.avi"

From the zprocess logs, I have tried multiple avi files with the same result, and also the same result with FFMPEG

Well, generally when a transcode starts working and then quits after a period of time, it's because the transcoder couldn't keep up. It wasn't quick enough. Usually I just bump up the PrePlay delay in GB-PVR a bit.

You might also want to check the 'After Transcoding' dropdown on the 'Transcode tab' Sometimes if 'MVP - Use Cache. Resume if able' s chosen it can mess things up..

Anyways, I'd like you to send the logs if you don't mind. there are three I'd like you to zip and send now...ZProcess.log, ZProcessRegSettings.log, and ZProcessVerifyFiles.log

(If you don't have 'ZProcessVerifyFiles.log' then you aren't using the latest ZProcess... )

Thanks for the fast reply zehd.

I wish it was one of the issues you mentioned above but...

I have set to do nothing after transcode.
and the transcode does not catch up, What happens is for example it stops transcoding after 30 mins are transcoded, but I am only 20 mins into watching the movie, so it still goes on for 10 more mins before it exits.

Regardless I have attached the logs, if you can think of any way to get a log for ffmpeg or mencoder that would be very helpful I think.

Regardless I have attached the logs, if you can think of any way to get a log for ffmpeg or mencoder that would be very helpful I think.

Code:
3/24/2007 9:52:39 PM : Using profile: Trans2MVP
3/24/2007 9:52:39 PM : Commandline: "C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\Third Party\FFmpeg\ffmpeg.exe" -y -i "D:\Current Movies\(2003) Pirates of the Caribbean.avi.avi" -target ntsc-dvd -b 4000k -vcodec mpeg2video -ab 192 -ar 44100 -acodec mp3 -ac 2 -s 380x252 -padtop 114 -padbottom 114 -padleft 46 -padright 54 -aspect 4:3  "D:\PVR\MVP000DFE008F9E1.mpg"
3/24/2007 9:52:39 PM : Process spawned. Waiting for process window to close.

<<< looks like GB-PVR pulled the plug on this transcode..  ZProcess will die and then there is no way to add the last log entry that it finished or failed...

3/24/2007 9:55:41 PM : ****************************
3/24/2007 9:55:41 PM : ZProcess v1.0.996 is started.

3/24/2007 9:55:41 PM : Input file passed from CmdLine: D:\Current Movies\The Queen.avi
3/24/2007 9:55:41 PM : NewVideoFile: D:\Current Movies\The Queen.avi
3/24/2007 9:55:42 PM : AVIGetFileInfo with API: 656x352

If that's the case, GB-PVR didn't like something most of the time, that the transcoder couldn't generate the file quick enough. Also, if you start a recording watch only 20 minutes, pres the blue button and know that ZProcess has transcoded 30 minutes already, then stop the viewing, GB-PVR will also clean up after itself, kill GB-PVR and delete the temp file...

I see only one instance of ZProcess crashing without being closed manually...

That's right, I closed it manually because I knew that I could not watch the whole movie, but once I let it crash.

Any idea how to go about figuring out what is causing it to decode for a while and then suddenly stop? Any luck with logging for ffmpeg or mplayer?

First off, I've updated ZProcess and Hunter (check my sig) and now they will report if ZProcess was forced closed or not.

But that's not where we're at...

Open the log, grap the command line like you did to show me a few posts back, and copy it into a command prompt...

(Start Menu, Run, 'cmd' opens command prompt.

Paste the command line into the prompt, don't need to change directories at all. Now you should be able to see the progress, and more importantly see what is at the end when it dies...

Or you could download my latest from my sig...

Now after you've tried a transcode, you can click 'Diag Cmdline' on the Transcode tab. It will create a batch file in the ZProcess Backup folder that includes the pause. You can just run it and then see what the results are...

It's a ftp caching thing. Unfortunately, it'll be a day for you to see the new file...

Oddly enough, there is no problem when I play these videos from the command line using the EXACT command that comes from zprocess.log, but when I use zprocess to run ffmpeg or mencoder it will crash as mentioned above. Sooo do you think there could be any reason the same command runs clean from a prompt but not through zprocess?
