overlay?

Just getting up and running with my 150MCE. I have gotten the EPG working, I can see the TV and hear the audio (in sync) on my desktop and I can record from the GBPVR interface but....I cannot see any banners or on screen info when i am watching TV in the active window. And I don't know how to get OUT of live tv mode.

What MPEG2 decoder are you using, and what renderer (VMR7/9/Overlay)?

vmr9 and i don't know what decoder how do i tell?

You can set it on the playback tab of the config app. Its probably with try all of the decoders listed. Alternatively, try switching to Overlay instead of VMR and it should solve your problem.
