stefan Wrote:I did some more digging. Half an hour ago my computer started doing a defrag all by itself. I can't for the life of me figure out why. I'm hoping that's what's causing it, though. I can see why it would interfere with recordings. Some checking on the net tells me that more people have a problem with dfrgntfs.exe running by itself. Nothing scheduled. Someone suggested "allow indexing of this disk" caused it, and others said changing a registry key could turn the automatic junk off. I just tried both. Time will tell if it works Smile

if you have the service for scheduled tasks started, defrag will allways start "on idle", no matter what you configure, even if you have never scheduled any tasks. the only way i know to get rid of it: disable that service ;-)

Let me get this straight... the service for *scheduled tasks*? I don't have any scheduled tasks, so I could disable it, but it sure would be nice to be able to schedule tasks in the future... Thank's for your input, though.
I'm not always right

By the way, then a wishlist item would be for gbpvrrecordingservice to start using more cpu, so that windows doesn't think the computer is idle Wink

yep, i'm seldom sitting in front of an english windows OS & didn't know the name, it's "Task Scheduler"
you got lucky, i do have scheduled tasks but have never thought of the automatic defrag as beeing a potential culprit for the occasional glitches in recordings. i've definitely gotta check on that defrag thing also...
i'm also recording DVB-T from USB (pinnacle pctv 200e), since i've switched to the ATI mux some time ago these glitches have almost perished. i've been using the cyberlink mux before and regularly got really f%#cked up recordings from one channel... these recordings were unwatchable, the worst i get now is 1-2 minor glitches during playback
