This is more of a design question:

When I use a client, Guide, Live TV, Recordings are from the server.
However, Video, Photo and Music libraries, are from the client.

Why?

Why not allow the server to stream the other medias as well? and save users from having to define the folders where the files are, and having to share all the relevant folders, etc?

Or, if you insist on having the client being able to show their own media, could have one of the two options:
Main Menu->Video Library->
then show in the folder list [Client Side] [Server Side] and from there drill down to the relevant folder/files.

Or:
In the left menu of the Video library, have a button (like mode) that toggles between server and client files.

This is true about all media types, of course.

What I did was share the Media folders on the server and then add them as 'places' on the GB-PVR client.

I kinda like it this way as I've alot of files on the client that I wouldn't want on the shared server.

Yeah, sharing is a workaround. But then, if you have several clients, u have to keep up sharing and configuring each client for changes.

Your last comment is the other way - I didn't mean for the server to see the client files, only for the clients to "automagically" see the media files on the server.

It was intentional. This way the clients could have their own media, or choose to use shares from the server if they wanted to see the same media, or some combination of both.

Well, I guessed it wasn't an accident... but the thought I had was, if was possible to allow the server to stream the media, then free the client users from managing and defining those shares at all.
Just a thought. once again, can be moved to the wishlist...
