Use the international cinema plugin. McBainUK added all sorts of new providers and features and the US is now supported.

Why do we end up with multiple plugins doing similar things. Shouldn't we add missing features and improve existing plugins? There seem to be a number of search plugins for example. I'm not attacking anyone, just wondering if we could somehow coordinate plugin development to better serve GBPVR users.

In this example, the International Cinema Listings started as a UK Cinema plugin that McBainUK added more countries over time. It served a different need than the US based theater plugin. Plugin authors develop their own plugins over time due to different needs of the individual.

This is true. And as people where having problems with the US theatre plug-in and the author being too busy to fix I was asked if I could add US/Canada support to the International Cinema Listings plugin. As the framework allows easy addition of sources it was only 30mins work. And the rest is history.... Wink

The US only theatre plugin can be found on the wiki

I'm not sure you followed all of the steps to get the cinema listings(or else I have an older version).
For me I had to go to the zap2it.com/movies page, enter my zipcode.
Then I expanded the range to 20 miles and pressed go.
Then for each theater listed I clicked on it and I got something like:
http://movies.zap2it.com/movies/theaters...QG,00.html
in the address bar of IE.

The AAEQ6 is what is used by McBainUK's program. Each theater has a different ID. I created a text file with each one separated by commas and then copied and pasted to the config screen where it said something like porvue (after erasing porvue) and that did it.

Is that what you did? If so what are your ids?

As an example mine were:

Code:
AANCC,AAHSL,AAASP,AATHS,AAPPY,AAEQG,AAHUE,AAQCN,AAPFV,AAHUG,AAEUJ,AAEBG,AABNG,AALHE,AANOT,AAFUQ

EDIT: Oh yeah, you have to exit the plugin and re-enter the plugin to get them to show the updated listing. You don't have to completely exit GBPVR although that would do it also.

Looks like a great plugin!

I'm running it for the first time (US: AAQPE), and I'm getting an error with one trailer from a movie ("Are We Done Yet?") with a special character in the title. It looks like you need to strip out special characters when building the filename.

Code:
Downloading file: http://images.apple.com/movies/sony_pictures/arewedoneyet/arewedoneyet-tlr1_h640w.mov
System.Net.WebException: An exception occurred during a WebClient request. --->
System.ArgumentException: Illegal characters in path.

at System.Security.Permissions.FileIOPermission..ctor(FileIOPermissionAccess access, AccessControlActions control, String[] pathList, Boolean checkForDuplicates, Boolean needFullPath)
at System.IO.FileStream.Init(String path, FileMode mode, FileAccess access, Int32 rights, Boolean useRights, FileShare share, Int32 bufferSize, FileOptions options, SECURITY_ATTRIBUTES secAttrs, String msgPath, Boolean bFromProxy)
at System.IO.FileStream..ctor(String path, FileMode mode, FileAccess access)
   at System.Net.WebClient.DownloadFile(Uri address, String fileName)
--- End of inner exception stack trace ---
   at System.Net.WebClient.DownloadFile(Uri address, String fileName)
   at System.Net.WebClient.DownloadFile(String address, String fileName)
   at InternationalCinemaListingsPlugIn.TrailerManager.DownloadFile(String url, String filename)
Trailer download failed for Are We Done Yet?

Also, one quick question: Does this update automatically, or should I schedule it to run periodically?

tipstir Wrote:I had spoken to soon... I am in NE CT, I am getting Boton, Texas stuff, so the wrong data is coming down. Also When I go into the Config for this plugin all the entries are gone? Something not working here.

Can we get a step by step of how this is suppose to work for the USA market. Something is just not right? Also are we suppose to see the poster for the movie or just words and timeline. There is this Mov trailer but where is it?

My first thought is you have the wrong id somewhere, but here is a step by step.
I'm leaving out the step of how to get all the IDs from zap2it.

When you add all the theater ids in config, you have to hit add to get it to save them.

When I save the config, I can come back later and see all the theaters listed in the config window but the theater ID window says porvue again.

Once this is done I can go to the theater plugin and refresh the listings;exit the plugin;reenter the plugin and then using by cinema or by film buttons I find a film then scroll to the right and press enter.

That will pop up the menu with a description about the film.
Press down will give you windows with the following:
Cast info
times
trailers

If you don't see anything about the trailers it's probably your skin. Try the blue skin as a test.

EDIT: Not sure about posters. I think it supports it but I don't see them either.
