Jumps out of EPG, etc. after pressing 10-20 arrow keys

I have been using GBPVR 99.12 for a week or so, and for the most part I love it. The software that came with my Hauppauge HVR-950 wouldn't do background recordings. I can only get GBPVR to work with digital channels, not analog, but that's fine (at least for now).

Anyhow, the problem I'm having is with arrow keys, mainly, but other keys may also be involved. When I want to set up a recording using the TV Guide, if I scroll along using the right arrow it will kick out to the Main Menu after maybe 10-20 keystrokes.

Similarly, if I do Recordings/Manual Rec, then go to, say Start Time, and press the right or left arrow to set the time, it will kick out after several keystrokes. In that particular case, my workaround is to click the little arrows with the mouse.

It seems like if I press the keys very slowly and methodically it goes a bit longer before jumping out, but I could be wrong.

As you can imagine, it makes it pretty tough to set up a recording.

Is this using the remote? If so, can you reproduce it with the keyboard? I'm guessing its an IR reception problem, or flat batteries in the remote.

Grasping at straws...wireless or IR keyboard?

I really cant think of any reason you'd get this unless the 'home' or 'escape' keys were being received. I also havnt seen a single other report of this behaviour.

Yes, it's a Microsoft wireless keyboard, but it works fine in every other application. I routinely use the arrow keys, heavily at times, and I've never noticed them mess up.

I just plugged in a USB keyboard to test your theory. Looks like you were grasping at the right straw, because it works -- I can smash like crazy on the arrow keys and it doesn't jump out.

That's a completely unexpected result, but at least I now have a workaround, keeping the wired keyboard handy just for GBPVR.

What's different about GBPVR vs. every other program I run, when it comes to keyboard input?

Is it a DirectX tuning issue, maybe?

GB-PVR isnt using the keyboard any differently than any other app. It'll be doing exactly the same thing with other apps, but you wont be noticing because the 'escape' key doesnt often do much in other apps. In GB-PVR it happens to close the screen, which makes it pretty obvious.

I've never had a single other user with this problem, but I know the only way you'd be leaving these screens without seeing an error message is if you were pressing 'escape' or the right mouse button, so it seems pretty straight forward for me to determine the cause.
